Just looking at it from the outside, Josh is an alcoholic or on the path to becoming one. I would only bring him back if I had a 100% iron clad agreement that he is and will remain alcohol and drug free. I have no idea what his restrictions from the NFL would be at this time or what the collective bargaining lets you work into a contract.

He's not very good.

Let the young guys like Bishop, guys without red flags take the reigns.

I always believe in second chances..

Lord knows I've had my share of them in a lifetime.

If he wants to play..I say fine but at minimum salary and he needs to clearly beat out whomever.

Or..he can try to play for another team.

Time to move on IMO but Jerrah sometimes has taken on projects..

Hhmmm...

the guy has shown no indication that he has learned a thing from the time in college to the DUI to screwing around during the pre trial period and getting caught smoking weed. No reason to give anyone like that a second chance.

No one DESERVES a second chance. You first show you understand your situation and then show you will proceed on that understanding. So far there is no indication that Josh Brent can do either.

The team has already bent over backwards to be supportive of this guy. Enough's enough. Best of luck to him in his recovery and for good fortune moving forward, but it should be somewhere other than Dallas.

Actually that WAS his second chance. He really took advantage of it.

I said, some time back, that I did not believe he would ever play in a Cowboy Uniform again. I still believe that.

Time will tell I suppose. I wish him well with his life. He's done his time, regardless of if anybody believes that the sentence was just or not.

I'm actually surprised to find us in a place where Brent might not be that much of a boon to our interior DL. Given the sad shape we'd been in, I'd been thinking he definitely would be, but the signing of Bishop has me more comfortable than maybe it ought to about that 1-tech position.

I still think Brent gets a shot back with the Cowboys, though.

2nd chances, yes
3rd, 4th, 5th chances, I start to get skeptical
Can he make it back to a serviceable player? sure, I think so...should the team abandon him? not in my opinion

I truly am torn on this one...it is not like he got a DUI, and spent a night in jail, he took a life...of course that was not his intention, but if he were to come back, there would need to be something in place to monitor him at any moment...12:30 in the morning? knock, knock...hi Josh? time for your breathalyzer....and, you need to pee in a cup....if he is awake when you knock on the door, then come back in two hours and test him again (just so he doesn't get the "they won't test me again, time to drink" thoughts)

He could get a shot elsewhere, I agree. Would probably be best for him if it were somewhere else.
