Josh Gordon rated higher than Dez at #16 on Top 100

It basically the exact same thing.
Not really. Fantasy football has various forms of logical structure. Points are assigned to production. Limitations are imposed on position makeup. Fantasy league participants ration players according to projected in-season efficiency based upon previous season(s) productivity. Etc.
The NFL Top 100? It is exactly what the NFL Network created:
  • A ballot composed of twenty blanks
That's it. Players vote for their favorite peers. Even though their peers play quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end. various offensive and defensive line positions, linebacker, cornerback strong and free safety, etc., a voter can fill a fourth of their ballot with quarterbacks for example. Ten quarterbacks? Sure. Players who don't even play? Yep. Players who had bad seasons? You betcha. Etc.

The only voting criteria is who they like at that moment. Quite literally, beauty pageants are more soundly structured than the NFL Top 100 ballot process. And it is EXACTLY why NFL Network created it that way. It is built to manufacture controversy. Controversy inspires debate. Debate generates viewership. Viewership keeps it relevant.

It is a farce, pure and simple. Certainly, fantasy football is make-believe. I have never understood the appeal of fantasy sports. However, the NFL Top 100 is not even make-believe or fantasy. It's bull, wearing a frilly dress, lacking all credibility--except with fans who believe it means anything. Can't really fault NFL Network for following the P.T. Barnum rule.

Well you wont have to worry about that this year. :D

Gordon is a helluva WR though, I had him on my FF team and he was very exciting to watch.

Gordon led the league in receiving with a dumpster fire situation at QB and playing only 14 games. These lists are a "who had the best 2013" not a who you want going forward, and they are meant to spark discussion through controversy (IE Jimmy Graham unranked in 2012).

There were only four games where Dez was targeted 6 or fewer times.

4 games is too many. Josh Gordon is a decent WR but he gets targeted because he QB throws it to him. Was there one game Josh wasn't targeted more then 4-6 times

After their rookie seasons I am sure there were lists that rated Merriman over Ware. The question of which one you'd want over a career has been pretty definitively answered there. Unless Gordon gets his head on straight, the comparison with Dez will probably be similar. Gordon has the talent; the Cowboys were willing to bid a high draft pick for him in the supplemental draft, despite his even then evident boneheadedness. It's just a matter of whether he can get it together enough to handle his business.

You just changed the standard. There was 0 times Gordon wasn't targeted more than 4-6 times. There was 1 game Bryant wasn't targeted more than 4-6 times. Per your previous standard, Gordon was targeted 6 or fewer times twice this past season.

That should end the thread.

Actually I had said 4-6 the first time. Anyways just saying Dez would have more stats had they not going away from him in games. It the times Dez has almost 100 yards in the 1st quarter and didn't get targeted the rest of the game

Gordon led the league in receiving last year. He was awesome.

But more importantly, who cares?

Sources close to Josh Gordon tell the Cleveland Plain Dealer they're "concerned" Gordon "will have a tough time making it back into the NFL" if his one-year suspension stands.
The appeal of Gordon's ban will be held in late July. Per the Plain Dealer, the people are worried about Gordon losing his "support system," as he'll be away from the Browns' organization and ineligible to participate in football activities. The sources reportedly point to Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon, who was suspended indefinitely last November and is not expected to be reinstated in 2014. Gordon's Dynasty league owners should have similar worries. Jul 4 - 1:14 PM

Just saw the reports that Josh Gordon got picked up for DWI in N. Carolina. If so, it certainly adds another negatory to his balance sheet. Being the best player in jail rarely helps the player's NFL team.

he is certainly done for next season. can he return is another question all together but unless there are major changes in his life he could be done at a very young age

I couldn't believe when a minority of people would argue Dallas was dumb for either not drafting him in the supplemental draft or trying to trade for him. Someone even argued a year ago that even if Gordon got popped again and missed a full year due to suspension that it would be worth it. The guy wasn't/isn't worth the headache. The only thing going for him now is he got busted for a DWI because the league hasn't suspended anyone for that offense in recent years.

And to think, this young man only just turned 23 and is already one of the elite WR talents in the NFL. Though, I probably need to change that to "was" now. Maybe he'll have a shot for a comeback in 2015.
