Well it's making sense why the league waited so long.........he had a court date yesterday for his DUI.....which he got an extention(pushed down the road)

I think the league wanted to see if he was gonna make a plea bargin...but since he tried to wait it out...the league dropped the hammer on him.

He will never be same after this....talk about ruining a potential great career:confused:

Two sources tell ESPN's Outside the Lines that Gordon tested positive for marijuana and was informed in early winter. Gordon received a second letter in April notifying him of the pending suspension. Because Gordon is already believed to be in Stage Three of the NFL's substance abuse policy, he faces banishment from the NFL for a minimum of one calendar year. Browns general manager Ray Farmer opened his Day Two draft press conference by saying, "I know there's been a lot of shocking - supposedly - news that we're not going to comment on with regards to Josh Gordon. The league has stated what we can and cannot say, so until we have clarity, we're going to remain silent.''

b. Discipline.

(1) Discipline for Failure to Comply in Stage Three: A player who fails to cooperate with testing, treatment, evaluation or other requirements imposed on him by this Policy or fails to comply with his Treatment Plan, both as determined by the Medical Director, or who has a Positive Test, will be banished from the NFL for a minimum period of one calendar year.

(2) Banishment: A player banished from the NFL pursuant to subsection (1) above will be required to adhere to his Treatment Plan and the provisions of this Intervention
Program during his banishment.
During a player’s period of banishment, his contract with an NFL club shall be tolled.

c. Reinstatement.

(1) Criteria: After the completion of the one-year banishment period, the Commissioner, in his sole discretion, will determine if and when the player will be allowed to return to the NFL. A player’s failure to adhere to his Treatment Plan during his banishment will be a significant consideration in the Commissioner’s decision of whether to reinstate a player. A player seeking reinstatement must meet certain clinical requirements as determined by the Medical Director and other requirements as set forth in

Appendix B.

(2) Procedures After Reinstatement: If a player is reinstated, he will remain in Stage Three for the remainder of his NFL career, subject to continued Testing and indefinite banishment. A player allowed to return to the NFL following a banishment must participate in continued treatment under this Intervention Program as required by the Medical Director.

The upcoming year or so will demonstrate to everyone just how much Josh Gordon loves playing in the NFL and the fortune that comes with it.

I would hope they reinstate him before camp next year, otherwise this is unacceptable.

I hope one day the NFL can adopt the NBA's policy and not test for stuff as silly as weed.

Weed is harmless.

The players have to collectively bargain for that aspect.

Wasn't J.R. Smith of the Knicks suspended five games last season for marijuana?

Why is it unacceptable? The guy has gotten into the same trouble at two colleges and now in the NFL. I think the players and owners will eventually look to revamp their marijuana policies and maybe even during the next round of collective bargaining. For now Gordon knows the risks of smoking weed and he put himself in these positions time and time again. The rules are written out so clearly that a child could have issued this suspension. "Hey, kid. When you see a players name along with the words 'failed test #4' then you have to suspend him for a year". Kid, "Okay".
