How do you know the QB was telling them what to do? Also, I thought I heard the ref call out that #70 was eligible, so I think he stated that based on what was reported to him. And, at the end of it all, the Lions still had two more opportunities (thanks to Parsons) to get the football into the end zone.

If everybody who is on the field and sidelines was wired then there would be no doubt what was said. Bottom line if they don't try and get cute this is probably a moot point. If #68 was the only one that was supposed to be eligible then what were the other two players saying to the refs? They were probably trying to confuse the Cowboys and ended up confusing the refs. There was a video of the ref clearly announcing for all the world to hear that #70 reported as eligible. So every lion player and member of the coaching staff did not hear what everyone else did? They should have called a timeout and maybe don't have 3 players talking crap to the ref so he can clearly hear who the hell is trying to report. Then there is the matter of if the tripping penalty was called correctly all this likely doesn't even happen.

As myself and other have said the only reason #68 was wide open is because the refs told everyone #70 was the eligible guy.

This can also be confirmed by Damone Clark literally pointing at #70 before the Lions snapped the ball.

Do not allow the media to write the narrative of this being guaranteed points for the Lions and they lost because of it. If the refs swallow the flag in that situation the media wouldn't be in uproar regarding Dallas being told the wrong guy was eligible. It would just be another "Oh, the Cowboys are just being the Cowboys" type of narrative.

The Lions played a stupid game and won a stupid prize. Simple as that.

Read on one of the news sites that 58 also was reporting as eligible on the play. That why he was over there. Skipper had no reason to go over there, though, other than to cause confusion. ... It worked.
