Does anyone think the Cowboys are approaching this game with the same sense of urgency?

Thanks for putting the link to this article up.

The Giants sound very serious, well grounded, and ready to rumble. Plus, they have a great coach and are playing at home, so they are going to come out strong. I think the Boys are going to have to weather the initial storm, then settle down, get to work, and put the Giants away for the season. I love the quote by Coughlin:

“People who achieve great things that the world will never forget, start out by accomplishing small things that the world will never see.”

Of course a win would be a huge plus and push to win the division, but a loss does not actually impact our ultimate goal of winning NFCE.

How do you figure? It's a divisional game and would put us 1 down in the loss column to the NFCE leading Eagles.

I don't think this team had the back bone to stand up to them. I get the feeling the Giants want revenge and can taste the blood in the water. I get the feeling they want this game and I get the feeling this team is not interested. I fully expect them to beat the Boys and the team to continue turning their backs on JG, I get the feeling the players are not buying the goods this staff is selling them outside of Rod
the Giants are not a good team. They weren't when we beat them. They weren't when they lost 6 in a row. They still aren't even after having won 4 in a row. We are not a above average team ourselves. But we are better than them. We are coming off a bye. We are getting back some key pieces that will allow guys that are more comfortable as rotational/back up players to resume those roles. I have NEVER been a Garrett apologist. But if this team does not WANT this game...then this is on the players.

The Giants are the more desperate team given record and tiebreakers. Hopefully it does not play out that way on the field Sunday afternoon.

I gotta say this is my favorite division rivalry at the moment. The Giants always talk so much smack and it makes me want to win all the more. As much as it annoys me its a good thing because I like the idea of rivals trash talking one another leading up to a game. I know a lot of you don't like it but I do wish our players had the swagger to talk back.

They're trying to talk themselves into this being a Superbowl atmosphere for both teams, because they know how much it sets them back if they lose at home and we sweep them.

That may very well be true. The question is do the Cowboys match their intensity and beat them on the road? History suggests no.

The idea that the game is more important in the standings to the Giants than the Cowboys is really irrelevant. It's nothing more than a built in excuse if the Cowboys lose. Winning organizations don't care how desperate their opponents are. They just win the games. It's the losers that have excuses for losses.

"Oh. The Giants were more desperate, so they played harder. They won, but they are not better than us."

Speaking for myself, I'm sick of this type of excuse making. Just go win the darn game. If you don't, then they clear are inferior to the Giants.

Come on Cowboys! Go up there and shut up JPP and the other loud mouths! Somehow, I don't think they are up to the task.

I actually don't think it is as critical to the Cowboys as it is to the giants. Cowboys serious stuff starts on Thanksgiving day..
If the Cowboys lose Sunday they will still be ahead of the Giants. We are not facing them again, we split the two games with them...

Of course a win would be a huge plus and push to win the division, but a loss does not actually impact our ultimate goal of winning NFCE.

When the Patriots play a division foe, do they think about this stuff? No. They win their games and move to the next game. If the Cowboys have this mindset, the game is already over.

I'd say history suggests the cowboys win this game. We have "historically" played very well at New Meadowlands.

You never know what Cowboys team will show up. The only constant in our season has been our defense. Consistently putrid.

We actually do a good job on the road against the Giants under Garrett.

The idea that a game is more important to one team than another in terms of playoff positioning is actually not irrelevant. It's mathematically true, given both teams' records, the number of games and the opponents remaining.

I agree that the team only needs to worry about the game and let the standing take care of themselves. I don't care what other posters have to say about it, using losing a game as a crutch because another team was more motivated is just thin soup.

Either you beat the teams on your schedule you're talented enough to beat, or you do not. Don't kill yourselves when you're not as good as, say, the Broncos. Don't overreact to getting a broken defense embarrassed by that Saints offense. Just win the games you're supposed to win, win your share of the evenly matched games, and do the things as an organization you need to do over time to compete with the absolutely best teams out there.

And that describes mediocrity to a T.

Well, we've been a mediocre team the last three seasons. We all see that, I think. Some of us are madder about it than others, but the objective has always been to *build* a team capable of actually competing. The very relevant question is whether or not we're actually doing that. I don't think anybody, on any side of any argument, is making a case that we're good enough to beat the elite teams in the league and just aren't doing be because of bad coaching or play calling or whatever the hottest bugaboo of the moment happens to be.

100% agree..But...
Patriots "expect" to win every game...Cowboys "hope" to win every game..unfortunately this is the current culture of the organization...until pride is restored to the Dallas Cowboys this is how you think of playoffs..do the calculation to know which game is key and which one is not..

I honestly think the Giants are doing this to create pressure because they believe we are terrible in games where the pressure is on.
