Julius Jones has got to go

I have finally decided my opinion regarding him. Julius Jones has got to go, because of two reasons:

1. He has absolutely no vision. The hole has to be where it is, or he is running into the pile.

2. He never can break a tackle. The first hit he goes down, and forward progress isn't happening.

I'm beginning to think our run-blocking is a product of Julius Jones just falling on his face the first time his ankle gets touched.

I just wish he would make the first man miss him. That is the sign of a good RB.

What concerns me is the playoffs. Garrett cannot play JJ and MBIII as equals. MBIII should be the primary back.

Barber is the primary back. Barber got 17 carries to Jones 9 carries last night and has 162 on the season to Julius 133.. Garrett will play the hot hand. That will probably be Barber most of the time, but Jones can be productive. He was productive in the playoffs last season.

yeah yesterdays game was really making me mad. It was definitely the game to let the hot hand play and that was Barber

I just wish people could enjoy a win. I mean we have like 10 days till the next game. Jones went 4 weeks without many of these posts and then bam, here it is again.

He had the big catch for 21 yards to get us in position to tie early in the game and also had some nice runs. The biggest difference this game: We tried pounding him up the middle again.

I think the real reason these are popping up again is because Barber got almost twice the carries and Jones failed a 4th and 2.

This is for all the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" fans in here. If he can't make it on 4th and 2..... IT'S BROKEN.... It needs to be fixed...

True... but that cutback on 3rd and short was nothing short of amazing.

Oh, definitely. He has moves. Just had to add that he often doesn't need to.

Ugh. I just had flashbacks to Switzer and the Eagles game in 95...

That was 4th and 1, but still...

JJ has been running good and hard most of this season. He has a mediocre game and people flip out -- but when Barber has a mediocre game he gets nothing but slack.

Look at the numbers... JJ has had mediocre games all season. It's not just a random one time deal. The majority of Barbers carries come at a point in the game when the defense knows we are gonna run the ball. Late 4th quarter with the lead, goalline, short yardage. If he has a mediocre game its because we were predictable and the opponent knew it was coming, not because he ran into the pile and fell down.

I think run blocking is clearly at issue here because let's face it, even Barber is pretty much having to make his own plays.

As for JJ, my buddies and I nicknamed him the 'Pile Magnet' because the guy has no idea how to hit a hole...Goes right for the pile, everytime.

And that 4th and short call in the 3rd was such a terrible call to give it to JJ, why not Barber?...Couldn't understand that one at all...JJ is not a short yardage guy, whatsoever.

The best use of JJ is on delayed draws or those screens (Like in the 1st series where he could burst up field)...Kinda surprised that we didn't see but one screen the rest of the game.

Same thought here.

I was hoping for JJ to go in at the end of the game.
I thought we could hit a quick one for 6 more.

Wonder how tired defenses are at that time.

Does it matter. Against the same tired defenses in the fourth quarter JJ has rushed 29 times for 85 yards 2.9ypc!!!!!!

Barber in the fourth quarter? 70 for 371yds 5.3ypc. Bottom line is when we need the running game the most to close out the game who do you want to carry the ball?

I thought a lot of it had to do with Parcells, but JJ just isn't getting the job done.

Jones is good for one or 2 plays a game in the first quarter, and fizzles. His big gainer is usually the draw play, that has a hole wide-open that anyone could run through it, i.e. it is good execution. He gets absolutely no push in short yardage situation. Did you see Ryan Grant ion that 60 plus yard TD. He made a play through three defenders with short spacing. JJ can't do that.

Barber has a totally different style of running, but he gets his, when the defense knows it's coming.
