No surprise:

Julius Jones was reportedly on the trade block during the draft.
It's believed he's still available. Unfortunately, the Seahawks aren't going to get anything for him, and he's probably going to end up released. Seattle acquired Leon Washington and LenDale White on draft day, and will bring back third-down specialist Justin Forsett. White looks to be the favorite for carries in this backfield, though Forsett should be heavily involved. Apr. 25 - 11:10 pm et

I still hate the fact that we passed on Steven Jackson for Julius.

Big Bill did great things for this team, but passing on Steven Jackson for Jones was one of his biggest misses.

I hated it as well. But it got us Spears. :D

Major need, and the best player at the position fell to us.

The Cowboys were never going to draft Stephen Jackson. He was in the box because of back concerns. Had they stayed at that pick it would have been Kevin Jones.

Another one of our 1st picks in our draft can't even snag a 7th rounder. Parcells let his ego get to him on this pick. Julius did look like he had potential his 1st season even though.

Agreed, I still remember when Dallas was up,,They kept showing Jackson. He wanted to come to Dallas, was praying Dallas would pick him. I kept screaming "TAKE HIM YA FOOL!! HE IS THERE!!!"..

Nope, Parsmells blew that one. And that was when I realized that he was just another Giant that I hate.

I seem to remember hearing Parcells feeling like all of the running backs where all on the same level in Julius, Jones and Jackson. That was his reasoning for trading down if i'm not mistaken.

Early on he looked like a special player. Julius at some point lost his heart. Just wasn't a tough guy.

Yeah, but this is why you don't draft RBs so early in the draft. They often disappoint in terms of value and their lifespan is short.

Bryan Broaddus talked about this last week. They didn't want Jackson.

Julius did make Parcells look good in the 1st round. Julius just didn't hold up his end of the bargain.

As has been already pointed out, we would have taken Kevin Jones. Jackson was not going to be the pick. And to be fair while Jackson certainly has been better, its questionable just how much better from 2004 to now our overall running game would be. We would not have Felix Jones who is more dangerous then Jackson; would not have Barber, probably, or Choice.

I think what happened to Julius was 1) he bulked up too much in his upper body and never got his balance back that he had as a fairly skinny rookie; 2) BP got into his head (Remember BP's "Robo Back" comment) and he quit trying to find holes like he did as a rookie; 3) he did not have the absolute fire you need to really overcome all obstacles- he has always been very quiet and passive.

I take Jackson back then without thinking twice.

There were concerns with Jackson including his upright running style IIRC but another issue was that Jackson had the postons as his agents and they don't care to deal with the postons.

I forgot about the Postons. That would certainly have made a difference.
