June 1st are we expecting any moves?

So you think an NFL team will sign him and give him a steady amount of carries?
He won't ever get a steady amount of carries. But he has a role and will play it very well if given a chance. Something that never happened in Dallas. Frickin' McCarthy.

I would strongly consider cutting Trevon Diggs, Deuce Vaughn, and perhaps Donovan Wilson. The Diggs cut would be better this yr than next.

I know many would not like the Diggs cut but it’s better for the long haul. I think he will never be the same. Cut your losses. The Cowboys won’t do it though.
:hammer:Or trade him.....but I'm done with him.

He never did much in the role we gave him which is why he never saw the field much. He put us behind the chains several times with negative carries. Not sure why you keep blaming McCarthy when Dowdle took a strangle hold on the RB position with positive carries. If Deuce would have made one big play he would have gotten more opportunities.

I would rather cut a guy a year early than a year too late when even a man on the street can see a player is done. And we can’t count Diggs as “depth” when he can’t play to start the season.

Nothing against Diggs but I don’t think he will ever be the same. The way his contract is structured it will cost less to cut him this year than next. So better now than later.

Regarding weakening the team - in my view by cutting Diggs, we can free up some more long term cap space and strengthen the team.

For example: This is Bland’s last year on his rookie deal. Are we going to lose him or pay him? If we pay him, having Bland and Diggs is a cap buster at the expense of something else. If we lose Bland and Diggs is already struggling what have we accomplished?

That’s all just my opinion and I could certainly be wrong. But don’t worry - this is exactly the kind of move the Cowboys never make.
Diggs is iffy as far as return. But if he does bounce back, his instincts will keep him as a competitive corner for at least a few more years. But I do think his game is more on the decline than it is developing.

I mean, that's Schottenheimer's point. Even if you're getting older and you're a veteran now, doesn't mean you can't develop different aspects of your game. I mean, you'd want to. The NFL evolves and you want to keep your skill set up to speed.

We have better players now to run more of a WCO style of attack. We just need a productive, high percentage passing game.

That's the aspect I want to see George Pickens improve upon: developing a shorter or medium level game. But I guess CeeDee will take care of that. I still expect Lamb to be doubled though on early downs.

The Cowboys also need one of their TEs to step up and take over in the passing game. I like Ferguson. I just wonder it he'll ever play with that reckless abandon he once played with. I suspect he's been playing football for a while too.

One of these days they'll figure out how to scan their brains as part of the scouting process

So it's June 1st. Doesn't the Zac Martin money kick in today ?
He was a June 1st. Cut/Retirement .
Extra money to pay Micah at Training camp...

Looked it up, not much of a savings coming back.
Don't know why I thought that

When was that?

All he ever got was subbed for Rico a few times to run the regular offense and that's it.
What more was he suppose to get with Rico averaging 4.6 a carry? Rico kept getting better and better. He was making plays out of nothing. He was a violent runner who was breaking tackles and rarely took a loss. If a back can’t produce in our regular basic offense they’re not going to play much. If you have to design plays for a back because they’re undersized they’re not going to have much of a role. Not sure why you don’t get that. You told me you wanted Deuce to get 8 carries a game which was what Dowdle was getting before he became the starter. That was never going to happen.

He's not getting paid at camp, he's getting paid on Thursday right before the game starts

Deuce needs to get the ball in space. Or open holes between the tackles. Never happened. He can produce if utilized correctly. Expecting him to run the same plays is just stupid. Where is the innovation? Where is designing plays to fits the players? Didn't exist.

No Ramsey. Reader, ect moves after June 1st. The Cowboys might bring in Gilmore after training camp. The Cowboys are hoping that the defense can hold its own until November when the get can get Overshown and Diggs back.
Guy like Gilly won't want to sign during camp those guys don't want to do training camp

Dowdle didn’t need open holes between the tackles. If you can’t get Deuce in space he’s going nowhere. He’s not an NFL caliber back. There’s a reason he was a 6th round pick.
