Maybe you guys just dont enjoy a defensive battle with a team that can score at the blink of an eye?

Every time Brady stepped back to throw I was worried the Pats would make a big play.

Plus it was fun actually watching Brady not have 4 seconds to throw the ball everytime he steps back to pass.

I love defense, I was a DE/TE in high school. From the get go you knew the Pats weren't going to be able to score at will, the giants pass rush was just to damn dominate. taking away like you noted the 4+ seconds to throw forcing brady to over/under throw.

I watch other teams once and awhile during the regular season though...

I use to be a big NFL fan but the more pomp and pompous it gets the less I enjoy it...there was a time it was all about the game....now it is all about the dog and pony show...I really do not enjoy the peripheral things about it at all...

now I think I will make a general (and might I add silly) statement like the one you made ....(in which I took the liberty to bold) ...ready...

A lot of people who have no lives (and are probably terribly boring) are the same people that watch other NFL teams play as often as they can.

Yeeeeah... a person who is a football fan who might spend his Sundays watching football automatically means they have no life and are a boring person.

Give me a break.

Well in you guys world you may not have missed anything.

Thats ok.

But in reality you missed one of the best Superbowls of all time.

Great game.

I just dont see how any true football fan could miss that game.

i wouldn't have called it a 10 ten of all time, it was good but far from great

Agreed. I thought the game was actually very boring. This was probably due to the fact that I can't stand either team. But all in all, a very boring game up until the last minute.

Yawn!

It's great that the people who watched the game seemed to enjoy it.

I didn't watch it, but had a fine time anyway (ended up making gumbo and watching some DVD rental movies. "The Lives of Others" is a pretty good flick, by the way).

let me turn this worm around.....

Well in that world of yours you may have enjoyed the game

and thats ok.

but in reality we really had a good time doing other things that have more meaning...

Great time.

I just don't see how any true human being would not choose family over a game on TV especially if your team isn't playing.

Yes, that's him. He was something else, wasn't he? Very entertaining.

Most football fans did watch the game and your right there is nothing wrong with a family day it just seems strange with so much time between the SB game and next season that family day just had to take place on SB sunday. All of a sudden this is just the most important thing but family day could have waited one more weekend had Dallas been in it. :laugh2:

Because there is 52 weeks in a year and was most likely something you could have done other than on Super Sunday.

If you had it planned ahead of time then I guess I can understand but it still baffles me how a "NFL FAN" can miss the Superbowl.

Its like an unofficial holiday.

Exactly. I didnt read your post before I posted mine.

I just have a feeling the people who dont watch anyone other than Dallas play are the same people that say Anthony Henry sucks, ect.

I think it lowers your credibility on a subject if you only watch 1 team which I think leads to the drastic "jumping off the ledge" posts that we see after games.

Very true. I like watching other teams play when Dallas isn't.

It takes all kinds to make up this fan base. I'm sure one could appreciate how painful it was that the Cowboys underachieved this post-season and failed to be in the Super Bowl. It was a good game, but at the same time it was gut-wrenching to watch.

Didn't watch, not because it wouldn't be a good game, but because I was going to be extremely bitter afterwards.

Have dozens of bandwaggon Pats fans at work, who took various trips up 80 to bet, double and triple existing bets in Reno. Amazingly, the absentee rate was quite high on Monday.

On the other hand, my family, living in NJ an NY, have made my life quite hard since the moment Belecheat walked off the field. I'm looking into changing my name and emancipation orders at age 49.

I'm still bitter over that playoff game, and will be for a long time . . . :banghead:

I'm with this guy. I did manage to enjoy the football being played in the final few minutes, but then I got pissed again watching those Giant *******es raising that trophy.

I don't think one isn't a "football fan" if they didn't watch this game.

Sorry, I didn't watch, but I do consider myself a football fan -- from the time I was 10 years old until I was 40, I either was playing or coaching football every fall.

But first and foremost, I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan and this was a particularly hard loss for me this year. Might have been because I put a lot into this year. I went to every home game and tailgated for 3 to 5 hours beforehand. We were so good, I was convinced this was "THE year."

After that loss, I just needed a break.

I find it a bit presumptuious for someone to say "I can't see how a real football fan would miss the SB." If you didn't and enjoyed the game, good for you. I -- and I'm sure others here -- simply had zero desire in this game this year.
