The whole reason for not overspending is that it will come back to haunt you at a later date and I applaud JJ/BP for not overpaying. However, the Skins have now been reckless with their FA dollars for 6-7 years and it has yet to catch up with them. If there are no real consequences then why not overspend?

Where are the Skins trophies?

Get back to me when they win something, then we'll look at them as a model for success. Until then, they've shelled out TONS of money for the weakest playof win of all time.

I could care less about their business mode.

The Commanders just get bailed out because they trade away all their first day picks so they don't have to sign rookie contracts. lol

But where are our trophies in those years as well? Works both ways. I can see where Teague is coming from in his post.

I do think though, that if were to spend the farm this year, it will really pay off for us. I don't see us being that far from the Super Bowl. Most of the money I would be spending on of course is (3) New O-lineman, (2) Linebackers, (1) Stud FS, (1) Stud WR, (1) Fat *** nose tackle, (1) Best kicker in the game.

That is to go into the draft being able to draft whomever we want. Best available. But giving us a since that we will be there in the Super Bowl by having extreme talent and depth. Just my dream ;)

Exactly.

The game is about winning superbowls, not signing FAs. The Mad Midget regularly wins in the offseason, but wins NOTHING during the season.

All that money he's thrown around has done him no good.

The skins had to let go of Lavar Arrington.

I don't think they have moved forward...it's more like a push.

The continual avoidance of "cap hell" by the Commanders is puzzling to me. How have they been able to spend year after year without falling apart, especially when you have notable teams in the free agency era that have collapsed (90s - 49ers & Cowboys; 00s - Titans & Raiders)?

Of course, those teams I mentioned were much more successful prior to reaching cap hell than the Commanders have been this decade.

They haven't really spent much this year. Randle El and Lloyd will only count 4-5 MM between them in the cap this year. Everyone is saying they're overspending but they gave both relatively low guaranteed money.

It's simple. They are "forward looking". They plan AHEAD for salary cap increases instead of Jerry's waiting for them to get here......

When we spent we won. The Skins have been doing this for years and haven't gotten jack. I do not see why everyone gets scared when little Danny opens the wallet same as every year

You missed the point. Shocker.

If you want to look at a team as a model of success, the Skins are not the team to look at. Look at the Pats, look at the Eagles. But, if your unhealthy Commanders envy makes you feel nice, go ahead. All their extravagant spending and they've accomplished nothing. Whoop-dee-freaking-doo.

ummm, its been at least a decade since Dallas won it all, and 4 years longer since Washington did.

There is no model on how to do it. You need the right players, the right health and the right schedule all at the same time.

As far as not getting it.

The sooner you stop reading Lenny P, Peter King, Z, Banks, Prisco, etc. The better off you are.

I think there is a model for how to do it: Patriots. Snyder has been the opposite of that model.
