Everyone gets so fired up when the Cowboys don't make many moves but ya gotta admit who is a must sign for any team plus the Cowboys rely on their draft to get better and not some over the hill veteran who's looking for one more big pay day. Remember when the Cowboys signed Makenzie Bernardo and Nate Livings in 2012 boy did they suck! How about Brandon Carr ya pretty much a non factor and whatabout the D tackle from Buffalo Martellus Wiley yup another suckage! Now don't get me wrong the Cowboys have brought in a couple of good ones like Deion Sanders, Anthony Henry, and L'roy Clover but that's when they had cap space unlike today.

They have cap space. They could easily create enough cap space to sign some decent mid-level FAs.

They choose not to, instead following the plan that has failed for like 6-7 seasons in a row now. And then count on fans like you to give them a pass every offseason.

There are teams that feel they have too many holes to fill that can reasonably be filled in one draft. Those teams need to consider available free agents if their intent is to be competitive in the playoffs, or simply qualify for the playoffs. FAs and the draft are a gamble. FAs are an expensive gamble. But if a team accesses what they can reasonably expect what will be available to them when they draft, and it’s not enough, they can acquire someone they think will be beneficial simply by outbidding everyone else. There is a minimum you have to pay in player compensation. It comes down to the same thing for all 32 teams. Who spends it most wisely?

Martellus Wiley knew he was stealing Jerry Jones money while he was here.

Are they going to make some trades like last year?

Judging anything with extremes is never correct. So you can't say free agency won't help. You find more long-term home runs in the draft, that's for sure.

Free agency can help, but just like anything else in roster building, you just have to pick the right players. Top 3 free agent spenders every year get an average boost of 2 more wins.

Baltimore and Detroit signed 4 players each that were ranked Top 100 FA by NFL.Com and made it to the Conference Championships for the first time in a while. (In Detroit's case, a LOOOOONG while.)

Always possible, but it probably depends on their draft plans. With only 7 total picks after the comp picks awarded this team doesn't have a ton of firepower to trade with. If they see value in a round 1 or 2 trade down scenario to grab a couple extra picks that could change things.

Starting 3-tech, starting outside corner, starting QB, starting RB, change-of-pace RB, rotational DE, top 5 AAV WR, other starting WR: All signed/traded for within 9 months of winning the SB. It absolutely can be done, it’s happened many times before.

Free Agency is just as valuable as the draft, it’s up to the team in how they want to use it.

Free agency keeps the cash in Jerry's pockets.

Who knows. They'd need to make a few trades to plug all the holes they have. They can't fix them all in the draft alone.
That's right. I suspect they will. They will make some cap space and have some draft capital in 2025 picks that they can use to make trades and sign some cap casualties that are cut.

There’s just a giant misconception/ disconnect here, myself and others who are frustrated had no expectations that the cowboys would go out and go crazy signing free agents. No one expected a Patrick queen, or Chris jones realistically ever happening and most of us didn’t think they neeed to do that. No one wants old crazy Jerry days just throwing money at problems.

However, there’s a middle ground here, there’s compromises to be made, we hoped that after putting together a pretty good team (to their credit) through the draft yet falling short for 3 plus years (talking McCarthy era) in the post season, they’d objectively say let’s use free agency to fill some voids at positions that we need so we can get over the hump - primarily linebacker or D tackle and use the draft to supplement that and also not be as boxed in when it comes to the draft.

The cowboys are electively choosing to sit out free agency every year that’s just a wrong philosophy and it’s particularly wrong this year.

The team sucked in 2012, there's a time to go get players and there's a time to hold off. Jerry never seems to figure that part out. Made zero sense to spend money on Carr at the time. This team on the other hand is night and day better and they'll still sit on their hands. Their philosophy is moronic. This is what happens when your GM overvalues everyone here.

its not over rated... what is over rated is the growing thought that the Jones are playing hardball with players on the team because they are about to "Clean House"...they are not, and will not...your gonna get a need draft and core exstentions....but if this "Jerry is fed up" thought gives some around here a couple months of smiles then ..ok..the meltdown is going to be crazy but in reality they are literally doing what they always do...
