Not sure where the Romo doesnt have arm strength comments started. Every time I have seen the guy throw it looks like he has good arm stregth.

I think Carpenter spends time on the turf because of the speed of the game...

Those dives at players probably resulted in tackles in college. In the pros, the guy he is trying to tackle has vacated the spot.

Hopefully, it's simply a matter of him adjusting to the speed of the game...which btw is going to get even faster when we come into the regular season.

You probably have the right of it...but I did not notice it in any of the other players did you?

Romo made one of the most exciting plays I have seen in a while in the 2nd quarter when gurode snapped the ball over his head in the shotgun and romo went and got it, evaded three defenders and hit rector between the numbers 25 yards down the field.

Yeah, Romo's a career backup. He just can't make the throws...

Andre gurode and both guards were manhandled.
Groan. Well, at least the tackles weren't. Right?

That was a wonderful report, Theebs...and gives those of us yet to see it something to specifically look for..especially loved your observations of Romo.

How many times has he orchestrated lengthy drives this preseason?

I'm told he's good for 2 or 3 300 yarders plus per round... :D

I agree with the praise of Romo. Although he had two interceptions (one of which was not 100% his fault), romo was impressive.

I concur that he answered all of the questions about arm strength. He made a couple of passes that the Brad Johnsons and Mark Brunells of this world only dream about.

He is also very good at throwing on the run and also making a quick move and then getting rid of the ball accurately. One time a guy was bullrushed up into Romo's face just as Romo wanted to get rid of it. Romo quickly rolled to his right and found Copper for a nice gain.

I think before last season, someone reported back from camp that Romo's passes lacked zip.

I don't think it was a reporter, just one of the posters. And it seems that they were doing a comparison of Henson and Romo.

Yeah the tackles played well actually. When you get to see the game today you are going to love watching romo. He just had something last night.

the play with the botched snap in the shotgun was fantastic!!

I am capturing the game right now. If I get a chance to put the clip up before the game is on the nfl network today I will so everyone can see it.

One thing I forget to mention was Ronyell whittaker, yes the dude from the rhein fire. He was talking trash to romo and rector all night. Then they were roasting him on both sides of the field and he was still talking trash, then of course he gets the interception in the endzone, at least I think it was him. He was talking trash to vandy after the first miss in overtime.

the guy never shuts up. Hurd dropped a touchdown that would have won the game in overtime, I cant remember but I think it was on whittaker, I may be wrong but it would have been nice had hurd made the grab to shut him up.

And to second what some others have said in here, minnesota were throwing late hits, 8 men fronts with blitzes and tackling low all night. Even vanderjagt took a shot in the back of the leg on the game tying extra point. It was some real bush league stuff.

Probably a combination of the first team OL not run blocking well and Julius having a bad game.

I can't fault Julius when he was dodging defenders 5 yards deep behind the line of scrimage. The run blocking by the first team o-line was just awful. The good news was that they did a pretty good job in pass protection. Bledsoe had plenty of time to find a receiver.

When the second team came in, everything reversed. Holes were opened for MB3 and TT that JJ could only have dreamed about. Pass blocking by the second unit was not as good but Romo has a real feel for the pass rush and did some amazing things to get the ball out to his receivers. But I do think he regressed a bit and returned to his "gun slinging" ways too much. That definitely contributed to the interceptions.

I miss babe laufenberg and the ticket needs to fix some problems with the radio broadcast, they are at commercials during games. It has happened like 12 times now between tonight and sat, the play is happening and the radio broadcast is advertising hooters...they come back missing entire plays....very bad......and they totally ruined the post game show, KLUV was much much better at this.

I didn't listen to the game, I tried to listen to the post game show...opertune word here is try!

After about what seemed to be 10 minutes worth of comercials, they had about a minute of chatter between Grego and Norm, then about 10 more minutes worth of comercials and they a painful interveiw with Romo by Brad Sham and Christi Scales followed by another run of comercials, then more lockerroom interviewing with MBIII, again painful to listen to, and yet more comercials...I shut it down and went to bed...absoultly not worth my effort.

I hope they work this stuff out or I'll be completely off the Ticket bandwagon as the Cowboys flagship station.

I was never a Romo fan early on. Had nothing to do with the Henson-Romo stuff. Did I root for him? Absolutely. I just didn't see much talent.

I liked his personality. Funny, blunt fella. Also seemed to play with some energy, which is fun. But I always looked at him as an on-the-verge-of-getting-cut guy.

I'm so glad I was wrong.

I have to say, I agree with ya there and you expressed some of my thoughts on Romo exactly the same way. The other thing I will add to Romo, what I didn't like is, previous to this TC, when I heard in interviews, I just didn't like the way he came off, sounding way too cocky for a guy who hasn't done a thing yet in NFL.

I still think and always thought, he might be a good NFL starter, but not franchise type guy. Thats why I clamour for the NFL prototype QB, who can Pro-bowler for years.

Hey, if Romo ends up being a pretty good NFL QB and winning at least one championship for Cowboys, I will gladly admit I was wrong about that. Till then I remain tad skeptical of his ability to take this team to championship stage.
