Just in, roy williams gone on vacation missing OTAs

no its not rumor posting, it was stated on today by todd archer that roy williams missed OTAs today on the david smoak sports talk that roy missed OTAs today because he scheduled a vacation this week, not sure how long his vacation is

as far as missing 2 previous OTAs, all i know is, it was brought up that he did miss 2 previous OTAs because he attended his charity events, and roy best to my knowledge apologized for that;

i dont know what 2 OTAs he missed but he did miss 2, even jenn floyd engel of star telegraph touched on this subject when he missed the 2 OTAs, because he was at a charity function

jenn said basically something like this, romo has functions that he goes too, but he attends all meetings, and then some, but romo does football first

its like jenn said, roy willliams has this money now to do functions because of what he does play for the cowboys, but he should take football first, that it was all nice what he was doing for single moms etc, but football should come first

what im saying if this is all true, and it has been posted and documented, about roy, to me, he is coming up with excuse after excuse for not working out and missing OTAs,

thats what I am saying, to me, he puts his charity stuff, life before football, football second, and it shows in the way he works out,

we all know last year, to get in shape he had to do a diet weight program to get in shape, and thats not football shape either, and his play to my thinking suffered,

again, its like jenn flloyd engel said, roy gets all of this big money for playing football, but seems like he doesnt have desire any more after he has gotten the big money or heart, that even the great head scout for the dallas cowboys said about roy, that to him it seemed like roy didnt have that desire anymore and that roy didnt want to get hurt, because he would lose the money nor work out, something like that;

then if you listen and read what coaches are saying about roy, that he doesnt work out hard or study etc, and even stewart said, we cant compromise the cowboys for one player, sooner or later he has got to play what we call and be ready

you cant keep making excuse after excuse, and not look in the mirror, im talking about roy, to me, its put up or shut up time for roy, pointblank

and when a player says oh its hard to cover a wr or te, geez

even our previous great safeties darren woodson, charley waters, cliff harris, and mike downs had to cover wrs and tes,

to me, roy is disgracing our previous great safeties,

even all pro og nate newton said, and he lknows football having played it, he said what roy should do to get his confidence back is start covering wrs in practice, thats what jimmy johnson make darren woodson do;

sure darrren woodson got beat now and then, but he praticed hard and worked out hard, thats to me is it in a nut shell, roy williams doesnt want to work out anymore and pay the price

He needs to get the facts straight.

Roy didn't miss any OTA's last week.

He missed two team meetings. Then Ellis made his comments. Then Roy had the meeting with Stew and Maxie where it was ok'd(basically) for him to miss these voluntary OTA's to go on vacation because they were scheduled a while ago.

It's not like he just didn't show up today, he wasn't expected to be in attendance.

Joe, I know you are a diehard, but you should calm down if you aren't completely sure of what's going on. I am on my last nerve with Roy and now you have me coming to his defense here, lol.

do you have a link for the actual story? If this was true I can't believe the media aren't all over it. No other reporting of it makes it's legitimacy sound awfully suspect.

Todd Archer did say this on KTBB I heard it as well, But Todd Archer also said the vacation was planned well before the OTAs were scheduled

I don't care for RW attitude or his playing the last 2 years or so, but I have to defend him here too.

From what I have read and heard, Roy has been doing his workouts better than most. The thing is he gets there very very early in the morning and is leaving about 7:30 A.M. when most everyone else is showing up. But there is a trainer or two there, and he has been very good at showing up and doing what he is supposed to, to stay in shape.

He just doesn't do it with his team mates. Is that good or bad? Your choice?
I think it is poor attitude, but that is just me. Who knows - maybe someone told him to quit his preaching while they worked out? (now don't start a rumor here) So - he decides to do his work alone. Or maybe it's that he wants to get an early start show that he can go work with his charities. More power to him. We just don't know what is driving Roy Williams right now. Let's see what happens at training camp and in preseason games.

Last week several articles mentioned he had been excused from them because of another commitment, I believe to his charitable organization or a family vacation.

The key word is "excused." Meaning he didn't just not show up. He informed the team and they were okay with it.

If Roy can contribute, fine, I could care less if he made the OTAs. I just do not think he is that important to the defense now anyways. He is a detriment more than anything. Him not being there though after whining about his role is not the right message to send. Because it was his charity he gets a pass though. His means to have this charity has been provided by the opportunity his employer has given him...he should remember that. He was a clear weakness defensively last year and was far from deserving of his Pro Bowl selection. If Pacman's suspension was lifted I'd have no qualms at all with Henry making a move to FS, Hamlin to SS, with Jenkins and Ball as the 3rd and 4th CBs.
