If this were training camp, shoot, mini-camp, I could understand but thread after thread, post after post, all bashing Roy is outrageous at this point in the OFF-SEASON! Anyone out there upset because Hamlin isn't attending? Man, has Roy fallen off with some of the SUPPOSED Cowboys' faithful (and this is after a Pro Bowl season)! It'll be interesting to see how you guys would react if Williams has a great season in '08. I'm sure the man-crushes you had on him when he first donned the Star would be re-ignited BIG TIME! If this forum is indicative of how the public views Roy no wonder he wants to give fans the cold shoulder...you can only beat a dog for so long before it bites you back!

While I have my issues with Roy... this thread is just to stir the pot. Nothing more.

Not really a big deal that he misses the OTA's... all reports say that he is "rededicating" himself and working out getting his body in shape.

Thinking Roy should be here does not make a person a hater. God you guys love throwing that crud around. Anyone make a negative comment on a player’s action and all of a sudden we are all haters. I refuse to make excuses for him on such a lame reason of not attending. All the other key players managed to be there why should we accept less from Roy?

As for the upcoming season I hope we see the Roy Williams who was an intimidating factor in the middle of the field, the guy would blast RB out of their shoes when he would come up on the runs but honestly I have not been seeing much of that over the last couple of season but I'm far from giving up on Roy.

Hamlin's not there, Doomsday, does that ruffle your feathers? I'd say he's as key, if not moreso, than Roy! Or does a contract "dispute" trump an excused absence for a family vacation?

I wish he was there but he is not under contract and if you read what I said then you would not be asking this question. I think all MEMBERS of this team who are under contract and not nursing an injury should make an all out effort to be at team workouts.

They have not been playing since FEB and they know after the draft they will be seeing mini camps and they will be having OTA and they also know 3 to 4 weeks before training camp they will have dead time prior to camp even the coaches will take some time off before heading to camp.

You want to make excuses good for you I'm all out of excuses I expect commitment from our players.

No matter what Roy does in the offseason it will not help him v. K2 week 1!

They can't make him go it is voluntary and the CBA says a team can have only 2 mandatory workout prior to training camp the others must be voluntary and no I would not think Wade would want to make an issue about this with the Dallas media. The other players managed to be there and yet Roy should be the exception? OK. I just don't see it that way.

It's not a contract "dispute" ... at the moment he currently isn't a paid employee of the Dallas Cowboys and the Cowboys could withdraw their franchise tender if he were to blow out his knee in the OTA and leave Hamlin completely out in the cold.

So, yeah, that does kind of trump a family vacation.

See, that he missed some of the OTAs is not a myth, so it doesn't belong in a myth section.

You could make the case that the implication that he scheduled the vacation to coincide with the OTAs, and that he's getting fat and lazy again (as the OP suggested) is a myth.

Got it straight? There are 650 or so posts on the subject in another thread if it's still confusing.

i however think if roy worked at it, to be the best, then he would be, but he doesnt work, and im like doomsday, the super bowl was over in february, what you do in march, april and may in workouts, building your strenghts, getting familar with your defense, etc, wil only make you better;

but when you dont attend OTAs, dont study film, come up with a lame excuse, oh, its hard to cover wrs and tes, schedule your vacation, when all of the other players are at camp praticing,

what does that say, oh, im an all pro i dont need to work out, i can after i get back from vacation, get on a diet plan like i did last year, im the great roy williams, this defense doesnt fit me,

you should compromise the team for ME! so i can make big hits, etc

if you were here, your coaches could be studying you better to devise better plays for you to cover, get sacks, make bigger hits, but oh, wait aminute, yove missed already 2 OTAs, and now youve missed this weeks OTAs;

now come on guys, if you cant see through that, its just excuse after excuse, blaming everyone but himself;

this is all i will say on the subject, but im like doomsday, the last 5 years, we have knocked on playoffs 3 times out of those 5, but each time, we fall flat in december, when you have a player like roy that isnt committed, and being a leader like he should, then there is a big problem, and sometimes when a player doesnt work like he should, it rubs off on other players, that attitude and desire,

its like michael irvin said once, when jimmy johnson arrived, and the that last game, players were consoling irvin, dont worry that we lost and have a losing year, you still can pick up your check every tuesday;

irivin said, when jimmy johnson came aboard, he called jimmy and told him about these guys that didnt work, even jimmy johnson said, Fatigue will make cowards of you; if your not in football shape;

emmitt smith, troy aikman, michael irvin, adn charles haley were guys that player hard, worked hard, praticed hard, and demanded that of all their teammates, with heart and desire to win and be the best,

i just dont see that in roy anymore,
