I think part of the problem is that many of us are fairly young and didn't get a chance to see guys like Thomas or Calvin Hill in person.

My personal history with the Cowboys only dates back approximately 30 years. I grew up on Dorsett, Walker, and Emmitt. So if I'm just looking at those 30 years I'd have to rank Barber fairly high.

Yeah. It's easy to say that now. But at the time of that draft, pairing Felix's supposed explosive ability with Barber's power appeared to be a nice match. Again, at the time. Felix's acceleration and speed were reported to be something unique even at the NFL level. Unfortunately we saw maybe only 5-7 plays over 5 seasons where he could demonstrate that big play ability.

Absolutely. Especially when you consider the Cowboys were coming off a 13 win season and were viewed by many to be Super Bowl favorites heading into the 2008 season.

Ideally you shouldn't use your 1st round pick on a complimentary player. But if you're close, like we were back then, I can understand the rationalization behind that pick. They were trying to strike while the iron was hot.

Don Perkins, Walt Garrison, Duane Thomas, Calvin Hill, TD, Herschel, Emmitt.
Add to that Ron Springs and Robert Newhouse.
I don't include Moose because he rarely ran the ball.
and don't forget our first 3 rd down specialist Preston Pearson.

He was a great rb. But dallas didnt know how to use him or he would have been better.

Yeah, its amazing he never had a 1000 yard season with his running style..the closest he came was the year we lost to the gnats in the playoffs..had like 900 I think. Plus in that season he was primarily a backup..his first start was the playoff game. Next year he was the starter and it was all downhill from there..

He was better than Paul Palmer and Curvin Richards. Probably Sherman Williams and Doug Dennison, too.

But seriously, he's in that Timmy Newsome, Preston Pearson, Scott Laidlaw, Ron Springs group.
