I hope that parcells does not come back, and we can get someone like Justin Smith form the bengals, they just signed the other guy (Geathers) to an extension and don't seem to think they will be able to keep Smith! This guy Smith is a good pass rusher with a big motor, a lot of tackles and an average of 7-8 sacks per season and he's just 26!
But if bill stays there's no chance, he's just 275 lbs, to small for Parcell's big (slow) defense!

I don't think he's too small if he can play outside linebacker ...if Greg Ellis could do it I sure do think Smith who is quicker than Ellis could as well.

I don't think you'll see too many FA 4-3 DEs lining up to sign contracts to play 3-4 OLBs.

Why not?....Maybe Smith thinks he could make the switch to OLB in the 3-4.

Remmeber the guy we lost and who everyone attributes the demise of our defense to also happend to be an end in the 4-3 a year prior.

Justin Smith was quoted on saying that he has no interest in playing in a 3-4 defense and will sign with a 4-3 team.

but Ellis wasn't happy about the switch because he never played it before, and felt that he wouldn't be able to adapt, and would lose money

and this is a player w/ maybe one big payday left, I don't think Justin Smith is viewing this offseason as his last big payday

I hope the Bengals do resign Justin Smith. That would make Eric Steinbach more available.

I do not doubt for one second that this is true and I have no interest in him. However, money talks.

Why is it that everyone always thinks that others teams won't have $? I've seen a few projections -- and they might be wrong -- but projections nonetheless that indicate the Bengals have about 30 million in cap space for next year -- that would be in the top 3rd of the league.

With the cap space most teams have this year even that seems like a long shot.

The Bengals are always crying poor and considering they're revenue streams there is a reason for it.
