I am not for nor against your post but I think Hunt has considerable more burst than Zeke. Also, I’m not sure how much relevance you can put on YPC when players play on different teams with and against different players. I’m not saying it’s irrelevant but I’m not so sure how valid that point is either.
Hunt
1.9 avg yards before first contact
1.9 avg yards after contact
4.8% broken tackles
Zeke
2.3 avg yards before first contact
1.5 avg yards after contact
3.8% broken tackles
Just for comparison:
Pollard
2.6 avg yards before first contact
2.6 avg yards after contact
5.6% broken tackles
Chubb
2.7 avg yards before first contact
2.3 avg yards after contact
9.2% broken tackles
Even when you start to break down deeper metrics it seems that both Zeke and Hunt at this stage are worse than their counterparts. Going from Pollard to Zeke it seems clear that there is a pretty big downgrade in terms of making players miss and picking up yards after contact. Hunt to Chubb is an ever wider gap, which tells me that it's not an oline issue, and it's not that they played a ton of tough run defenses all year either. Both Zeke and Hunt any way you look at it seem to be losing their legs. Maybe injury plays a part in it, but Zeke/Hunt seem to be pretty much the same declining players as far as being true runners go. They offer different strengths/weaknesses in the pass game though.
