Wow

A great bunch of names in this thread.

Karen brought a special sound. It was great.

Stevie Nicks has that unique sound that you just know it when you hear it. She made Fleetwood Mac what it became.

Lots of other goodies...

Dont forget Sade... she was a smooth operator ;)

You wouldn't believe how tiny she is in person. How that much power comes out of a woman that small is amazing.

Benatar was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2007. Based on the number of songs and their charted positions, Billboard magazine ranks her as the most successful female rock vocalist of all time.

If I remember correctly, didnt she train as an opera singer when she was a child?

the whos singer?

Well, I'm old enough to know that... just always thought he was pretty good at what he did, but not one of the best of all time, voice wise...

Great voice but she can't hold a candle to Patsy Cline in my opinion.

Got a head full of feelin' higher
And an ear full of Patsy Cline
There's just no one who can touch her
Hell, I'll hang on every line...

"Miss You So Badly", Jimmy Buffett...

Patsy is buried less than 2 miles from where I'm typing this...

That's what I thought when Linda Ronstadt walked onstage at the Meriwether Post Pavilion; what a tiny woman she was...

Pat attended Lindenhurst's Daniel Street Elementary School in Long Island where she began vocal coaching and classical training in opera.

For some reason I used to be in love with her when I was a kid....plus Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. Weird kid I was.

Linda and her family are from here in Tucson. Her brother Fred (a total jerk) was on the City Council here for years. Yeah, she's not very big, but she's bigger than Pat.

A widower from my home area got remarried. His new wife was a long time friend of Pat Benatar. In fact her two kids called her Aunt Pat, even though she really wasn't. My brother and I were good friends with his two kids and got to be friends with her 2 kids too. One day we went out to their house and who was there but Pat Benatar. I was a skinny 16 year old at that point and was probably about 5'9" maybe 150 pounds. I towered over her. If she weighed 100 pounds I'd be shocked. She was very nice to us and I enjoyed getting to meet her.

Good story.

I met Gloria Estefan about 15 years ago. She's another tiny woman, but has a very firm grip.

I know. That was a nice, slow pitch right down the middle.

I dated a girl who looked like her. Total stick in the mud though. Very disappointing.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I don't see how you can possibly talk about great female vocalists and not mention Anne Murray. And BTW, you're not going to sway my opinion, so save your breath.
