Keep hearing certain people in the media say Dak is succeeding because of the RB and O-line

I just seen QB's in the past make stupid decisions on 3rd and 4 instead of getting the first down. Dak knows how to keep the drive alive and would throw a 5 yd pass on 3rd and 4 or run for it. Some QB's would throw a 18 yd pass on 3rd and 4 and then the team has to punt.

We see that all the time.

I see the Buffalo Bills do it constantly.

A lot of the credit has to go to Prescott, but also the Cowboys' coaching staff has the right mindset.

No rookie QB is going to have any success without a running game or a solid OL. If they're having to carry the team and not being given good protection upfront it's likely to lead to a disastrous season for them and their team. Dak was a 4th round pick who didn't earn the starting job in camp, he was forced into action due to an injury to Romo. He got an opportunity and has made the most of it. He has a lot of ability and what impresses me is the way he maintains being a passer for as long as he can before pulling the ball down and running.

Unlike most young duel threat QBs who can run he's a pass first QB. He hangs in looking to throw as long as he can and that's the mark of an experienced QB, not a rookie. He plays like a veteran QB, going through his progressions and throwing to the open receivers. The poise and leadership he's shown has been remarkable. He has players stepping up around him and the chemistry this team has with him at QB has me very excited not only about this season but the future.

It's no one in particular I just seen QB's make those types of plays in the past and I always hated. The point of 3rd down is keeping the drive alive and save the big plays for 1st and 2nd down
Are you willing to offer name(s) that have run counter to your criteria..?

And yet, the WR still has to catch the pass don't they?

I tell ya. Roger Staubach should have hit Jackie Smith higher in the hands in the endzone instead of the gut where the ball could easily squirt through.

The Romonians are probably thinking that Romo would have been 27-27 yesterday and far-exceeded Dak's 141 Quarterback rating (actually, Dak would have been 24-27 if Dez could catch the ball these days). They also believe that Dak padded his TD numbers by unfairly choosing to throw to guys that were 10 yards open in the endzone yesterday. In the meantime, most of us are extremely happy to have a team clicking and on their way to playoff success unless Jerry screws it up.

Yep....Staubach was a loser and probably had bad mechanics with shifty feet [sarcasm]

Which to me is BS, You still need the skills to get away from defenders and find the open man down field. Not only that he was able to beat two division rivals late in the 4th by effectively moving the chains. And let's not act like dak is well protected every time he steps back to throw which is another reason that statement annoys me

"he doesn't have to do much due to the running game and offensive line"

So that is a indirect way of saying he is a bus driver which is just a flat out dumb statement. Bus drivers don't win 7 games in a row and 4-0 on the road.

I think Jimmy Johnson said this on FOX yesterday that dak doesn't have to do much? What the hell is he talking about? lol
He has the best line and arguably the best rushing attack. Did a Cleveland lineman even touch him once?

Why go for big play on 3rd down when you get the 1st down and keep the drive alive?

The playbook for Dak has opened as the season has progressed. To argue otherwise is to ignore reality.

Where have I ignored that and where have I tried to argue it? Naturally the playbook has opened up with the more experience he's gotten. The reality is he's gotten better every week you can see that with the 8 TD passes he's thrown in the past 3 games. It took until the 3rd game for him to throw his first TD, now the TD's passes are coming along with deeper completions down the field.

Dak knows for him to keep this job he can't be turning the ball over because that's the quickest way for a young QB to get pulled. With our defense being several notches below our offense we can't afford turnovers. Another big part of Dak's success this season has been protecting the ball. His TD to turnover ratio passing/rushing is 16-3. You're not going to lose many games when your QB has that kind of ratio.

Eli Manning (reluctantly disagree), Kurt Cousins (agree), Mark Sanchez (buttfumble? agree), Michael Vick (agree), Jay Cutler (somewhat agree), Tony Romo (disagree), Joe Flacco (disagree) and Sam Bradford (agree)
My two cents.

Does the WR have to catch the ball? Did the QB put it on target? whether it is 5 or 15 yards.
As a football player, you don't care if it is a 15yrd pass or 5, the process of the catch is the same and easy

But isn't it risky to throw a pass that long on 3rd and short? Why not focus on the first down to keep the drive alive and then go for the bomb on 1st and 10??

Romo could have connected with those wide open receivers throwing it left handed.

Because 3rd and short you typically get one on one coverage on the outside. you only get so many opportunities for the deep ball in a game. And more often than not you need to hit on a big gainer at some point in the NFL to win

Risky, I don't know. Aikman used to say they could go a whole practice without the ball hitting the turf. Like I said, I can catch a 15 yard pass just as easy as I can a 5 yrd pass.

And that;s why I lilke Dak because he doesn;t think like that which is why we are 7-1
