Keep Vaughn, dump Weeden

So is Vaughn the new Matt Moore, Alex Tanney.....and list of other players that people hold in high regard when in reality every team in the league has a player like this on the PS?

Not every team in the league DOES have a 2nd or 3rd like Vaughn. There is serious discussion here that Vaughn is as good as Weeden. Maybe he isn't but it's close enuff to make you think. And he absolutely better than Hanie. These two were #2 and #3 on their teams respectively. He is also better than both of Greenbay's backups from last year. So, sorry to put holes in your bubble but what you say isn't accurate.

I don't know if they are as bad or as good as Vaughn.....but every team has a qb on their practice squad who they're hoping no one picks up....and they rarely do.

And Vaughn is better than Matt Flynn?

What on earth have you seen in Vaughn to say he can play in this league?

I'm not saying he can't play. I'm saying i'm not investing a roster spot in him to find out. Put him on the practice squad and we'll be okay. If someone wanted him they would've drafted him.

What on earth have you seen in Matt Flynn that puts him head and shoulders above Vaughn? Vaughn has played in a grand total of 7 qtrs in the NFL. Flynn has what 3 years? and he is still barely serviceable. I'm not saying Vaughn is the next Romo or not but he is better than a lot of 2's and 3's and deserves to at least have a shot.

Weeden showed absolutely nothing on his preseason. Pretty much for his career. Except maybe agaisnt us.

there is one every year. a guy comes in and plays against guys who will be working at mcdonalds in a couple weeks and people think he is a star. i see enough to try and develope him, on the PS. i don't see enough to use a roster spot on him
its not that he throws 4 touchdowns right? it is his mechanics, he is calm in the pocket and what I really like was that he was looking down the field when he scrambled which was plenty because the line was terrible. he can be coached up on the bad but importantly his instincts look good. plus he has ideal size and arm strength.

I think Vaughn would have made it to PS if he was cut. He is not a better talent than Ryan Williams right now, who could start if called on and be productive. That said, I like him better than Weeden. Weeden is not the future and Cowboys should have packaged him for anything at this point.

So, let's say week one that Romo gets rolled up on and pulls a Bradford. You want to hand the keys to a rookie undrafted QB who has yet to fully learn the game or the nuances of the playbook?

Doesn't matter, CZ will just blame Jerry anyway and say we should have drafted Johnny F.

You think Weeden would be any better? At least Vaughan still has plenty of upside and can get better. Weeden is very slow through his reads, has too much confidence in his arm, and will throw a lot of balls off his back foot when he gets pressured. He's like a really poor version of the Drew Bledsoe we had.

NO WAY Vaughen is terrible
you kept sayin that in the game thread complaining that he got sacked did you not notice that the defense was allowed free shots at him on snap? I dont know what you were watching man. nobody but you is saying hes terrible the only questiuion is if he worth extra spot on roster with Weeden

and worst of all he will stare at the receiver and dbs are watching him like vultures just waiting. if he didnt have such a strong arm I think he would throw soo many int.

maybe so but the Cowboys are long at rb plus guys like Green Ellis are out there too.

I've seen Matt Flynn actually quarterback his team to victories on Sunday lol. Versus playing what? Against practice squad and players out on the street right now?

What's the alternative?

Hand the keys to Weeden?

This is like choosing between being kicked in the jewels with or without shoes.

All Vaughan represents right now is hope.

At the end of the day, it does not matter who plays if Romo gets hurt.

It just comes down to whether you will aggravated by Weeden's ginger ugly face or be hopeful when you watch Vaughan. Neither will play well enough to win.

True statement.
