Keith Davis released by Miami

Absolutely not.

He was a bad safety and most have conveniently forgotten that he was part of the special teams units that haven't looked that great the last couple of years.

Keith Davis is not now, nor was he a special teams "ace".

I agree with most of what you said, including his ineptitude as a safety and the possibility that he is no longer good in a ST capacity. But to say that Keith Davis was never a special teams ace is going a bit far IMO. He was very good in that role and stood out, which isn't easy to do on those coverage teams.

How is getting Zach Thomas for nothing "taking advantage of JJ?"

Getting Zach Thomas was an example of us getting something under the table, offsetting the 'perception' that Dallas was getting taken advantage of by Miami.

'Officially' , as in the actual trades between the two teams, Miami has gotten the better of it. However, getting Zach Thomas and possibly Davis back, are two examples of off-the-record deals that even things out.

Anyone have the picture of parcells kissing killa? I can't find it for some reason.

The move to cut KD by BP makes total sense for the Dolphins. KD costs them money and a 7th round pick( and we know BP loves his 7th rounders) to keep him.

Two things are at work here either KD is loyal to sign week 2 at a lesser contract and if releasing him now and him not be on the roster the 1st week get the Dolphins back their 7th round pick. Then it makes sense to do it, now if he signs somewhere else that is the risk they will take because they also gain their pick back.

For Parcells to release him you have to wonder what the unspecified reason is.

But yeah bring him back and cut Brown now.

Or maybe he was shot again in an unspecified place? :laugh2:

I wouldn't be upset if they brought him back to help our ST units. He certainly can't make them any worse than they already are.

As for the guy who keeps crying about how he doesn't want anyone who can't do more than special teams well...so glad you weren't around to cut Kenny Gant, or Bill Bates during their days.

Under the table, huh? Whatever that means. We got Zach Thomas because he was released. Zach Thomas could have gone wherever Zach Thomas wanted to. He also got offers from the Saints and Patriots and personally decided to play for the Cowboys. How could Parcells or the Miami organization have a "wink wink" deal in place if the decision was entirely Zach's to make?

Because it was clear to anyone who remotely pays attention that Zach wanted to go back to Texas, and have a real shot at a ring. Do you think that BP and Zach didn't speak at all before he was cut? BP is known to do things for vet players that he respects, even if it means cutting them.

How hard is that to understand?

The Dolphins did not give up a pick to sign him. He was an Unrestricted Free Agent. We would have been awarded a Compensatory 7th Round Draft pick for losing him, but that pick comes from the NFL, not the Dolphins.

I sit corrected...Thats why this is the best site for Cowboys information.

Ah... not exactly.

The Dolphins were not going to lose a draft pick.

For the Phins to cut a remarkable special teams ace like Davis prior to the 4th game of the preseason tells me that he has been up to no good or Parcells considers him no good, which in either case doesn't enamor me with the thought of the Cowboys resigning him.

Then the "wink wink" deal was between Parcells and Zach Thomas, not Parcells and the Dallas Cowboys. As you said, BP is known to do things for players he respects. As I pointed out, Zach Thomas was free to play wherever he chose and if you think it was out of the realm of possibility that he might want to play for a guy like Bill Belichick, I think you're wrong.

Luckily, he did want to play in his home state and we became the beneficiaries.

Nah, you're right. BP and JJ never talk on the phone. JJ never would have mentioned that he'd be interested in picking up Zach if he were cut. There's no way a 'wink-wink' deal could be put together with 3 people. Especially if it benefits all three.

Think whatever you want.

Keith Davis was playing last year when the special teams bungled the field position game as well, especially in the play-offs. The special teams has a separate issue other than losing Keith Davis...
