Moore wasn't that bad. Another camp and some pre season work and he should be about as good as anyone else we could have signed. Big thing a backup must do is just not turn it over.

I do agree but they have to make some plays every now and then as well. Weeden wasn't really turning the ball over a ton, he was just afraid to throw the ball past five yards.

Agree about not turning the ball over... And Moore was way too loose with the throws near the end-zone.

But you control the QB too much... And you have the "Weeden-affect" where not a single pass goes over 10 yards and your offense goes nowhere.

The challenge is who?

And then you have the issue of splitting snaps...

I think one of Moore's main problems was he came in late and had to split snaps with Weeden/Cassell.

Of all the guys last season not named Romo, Moore made the offense look the best.

I think if he's getting a share of the #1 snaps with Romo this offseason, I think Moore will be that much better.

I thought Hoyer made the most sense, but he's off the table now. Before free agency I wanted Daniels, but no way were we matching that offer.

yes he was......he was a turnover and sack machine.....defenders were licking their chops against him......no fear of getting beat deep

he should never play a meaningful snap for us again.....he is that bad....any time wasted on him is just that..

I guess I watched Hoyer fall-apart too often as a Texan and prior to that the Browns. LOL!

I question Moore's arm strength. His arm strength had better get better or he's a career 3rd stringer, IMO. But he did move the team better, he had a little moxie, he's smart, but like I said, that type of stuff can only get you so far when you have SUPER fast defenders flying at you, and cutting off routes. I also question Dak's arm strength, but he has a little rope with me since he's a rookie.

He's a career 82 rated passer with a 92 last season. That's decent for a backup QB. There really weren't a lot of better options available.

It's moot now, since he's a Bear.

All I am asking is that you give Dak an honest shot at the number 2 position.

Dak's got plenty of arm strength if his footwork were right. He's got a lot to work on with his mechanics.

Moore didn't get any snaps last year until the week we played the Jets. During regular season the starting qb get all reps. That's how far Moore was when they played him. JJ mess up the qb situation big last year. It should have been Weeded -> Moore -> Cassel. But we rob Moore of his starts and played Cassel. Threw him in when there was nothing to play for.

They blitz Moore A LOT during his snaps. Watch the Jets and Bills game. At times they was throwing the house at him. They really tried to rattle him. I thought he did fine but he lost vision in the middle of the field at time. For a first time starter he perfected back shoulder and come back routes. Those are some hard routes to defend.

Romo wasn't drafted.

I don't think it's that at all (his pedigree). He is the winningest college quarterback of all time.

It's the fact that he isn't very good.
Neither are 95 percent of all quarterbacks drafted.

What I see is that other than Romo we are getting younger all over.Romo is like a giant pay day loan that we cannot get rid of.But someday soon we will get a new qb from the two young ones or somewhere. We may have to pay a ransome for them in picks.

My real gripe with the Cowboys is we should draft one say 3 or 4th round every year. The study I read today says overall draft is like lottery and the more picks you have the better your chances. Why not draft one every year until we hit on one.

Yes it seems as though the pats have done that in the past and had Cassle step in and do well then they took another one (mallet?) And traded him and now they have Garapolo.

If you can't evade the blitz or make them pay by beating them deep, they should blitz you all game

It doesn't matter if he can make some of the throws, he can't make the ones that keep Defenses honest

It's also hard for a defense to want to stay honest without a number one wideout or a running back that can beat you.

The point of the thread is that with a healthy Dez Bryant and a top 5 running game, I believe Moore has shown enough that he can perform on the level that you expect a backup to perform. He is not a starter or the future of this franchise but he can fill in for a few games of the team is still together around him.

KMoore has gotten the most out of his limited skills......He is a great student of the game but that isn't enough......there is a reason he has been a 3rd stringer his whole career......coaches like JGarrett love him because of his brain and moxie but this the NFL and not the movie Rudy.....if we rely on KMoore as any kind of long-term back-up we are doomed....

We also were losing that game 24-0 against WAS's back-ups and Kellen had 3 more turnovers and 4 sacks....his late TD might have made the 34-23 whooping seem a little closer....

He really tore that prevent up

The defense he was going up against is known and yes his numbers were inflated but he did make some nice throws.

In the NFL, you are not going to find a good backup QB. If a QB even shows a hint of starter potential, he would sign somewhere else for big money. We just need a player to step in, make a few plays and let the offense around him function.
