The word on Moore coming out of Boise St. was that he, probably, had the best QB mind and understanding of offense of any QB coming out and some were really impressed with his knowledge, even as a rookie.

Now he gets his chance with Prescott, Rush and White and I don't know if there's a team with less NFL experience at the QB position than the Cowboys. He's got what some feel is a reclamation project with QB1 after only two seasons but this season Prescott must move the ball down the field or we could see either Rush or White or both.

But this is where a young first time coach, pre-anointed, makes his name for himself and catches everyone's attention because what GM or HC isn't going to be paying attention to the Dallas Cowboys and their QB?

The other dynamic here is that Linehan could serve as a sacrifice and his young apprentice might just slide into his spot. No coordinator has his butt sitting on the burner as much as Scott Linehan. The man is blessed with a top 5 OL and top 3 RB and there will be no excuses this season, produce or be gone because that young coach that he likes so much is just waiting to take his job. Because if he stumbles and the light shines on Moore, the Cowboys might have little choice but to promote him or lose him. The highest priority in the NFL is QB development and Moore will have a lot of light shining on him.

Kellen Moore and the development of 3, 2 and 1 year QB's is one of my must watch with keen interest developments this season. Not as keen in checking out the Cheerleaders and seeing who might have put on a few ounces, yes, I peruse it that closely. Not down to grams just yet but if these new contacts are eagle eye good, that's next.

JG said Moore visited a number of QBs leading up to the draft and really connected with White. I think he's actually suited for coaching. He's personable, seems to understand the game, just didn't have the physical tools to play at the highest level. We'll see.

Sounds a bit like Garrett himself.

But I LOVE making Moore a coach. I hope it works and we make it something we do often. Why can't we make Witten our TE coach? Jerry can outbid ESPN. I would love that sort of coaching environment where players retire and become coaches to the next generation of Cowboys and in turn the next generation of coaches.

I’m not sure out of this bunch of QB’s if we have a legit starting NFL proto type QB?

It could turn out to be one of our greatest positions of weakness.

well I would of loved to see Romo be QB coach myself before Moore. Hope Moore makes a name for himself.

Another reason why hiring a guy with no coaching experience was probably questionable.

Garrett and Linehan have put bullseyes on their backs for sure now. They are going to have to scheme an offense this year given we likely have middling NFL skill talent other than Elliott.

It’s amazing that a young QB going into his third season with a 22-11 record is being looked at as “make or break” this year. Took only a few below average games for Dak to be considered “on the bubble”. For the development of a young NFL QB in today’s NFL starved for QBs, this is crazy.

Tony Romo was given way more developmental leeway than Dak has seen. After two seasons, Troy Aikman was foolishly being considered as trade fodder because of Steve Beuerline!

The only way for Dak and his twenty-something QB coach get the critics off their back is to win.

It’s a strange world when the guy who runs this team is in his third decade of futility takes less heat than the 24 yo QB in his third season.

If last years bunch contributed to the 26th ranked passing attack what might we expect with this bunch of receivers? Assuming it was about our recievers and not the QB.

.........or the base scheme put together by Garrett over time..........and its inability to adapt even at a halftime to what a D is showing them or forcing them do accept as available offensivly.

The NFL loves them some QB "guru's" You make a name for yourself and will have a job for life with some team. Hoping Moore does just that.

That’s because most of us watched the games and the passing production with a QB unable to carry us on his shoulders.

If the winning wave is our only evaluation of Daks effectiveness and passing ability then making the playoffs should be required.

And if Dak is only expected to be a Bus Driver why are we so dug in on him?

Couldn’t there be more QB’s out there who could have handed the ball off and led us to the 26th ranked passing offense and 9-7?

Intriguing White is Moore's boy. Maybe we can get 2 1st and 2nd for Dak when White develops in 3 years.

I kid I kid

Might be and we might be in the hunt next season like 4 teams were this time picking them in the top 10. I am really in the middle on Prescott but then I've seen him play a lot and none of this is new.

He's in that no man's land part of his contract in his 3rd year, usually the 4th for a 1st rounder. They must decide if he's the guy and I do not believe they are as sold on him as they present to us. They know better than we which throws he should be making and ones that he has to make.

The key for me is one word, Ya know how they like to say "he can make all the throws"? I don't see the word "consistently" used enough and I do not see that with Dak and I've never seen that. I think Moore has got his work cut out for him because every DC is going to force the game into Dak's hands. I like him and am pulling for him but I am not sold on him. I never was, not even in that amazing rookie season.

I think this board is the only one who consider Dak "on the bubble"

Garrett and Linehan need to be questioned if we do not go deep in the playoffs this year. New players or not.

Same here, I was hoping he'd be our QB coach but I think there was some damage done to the relationship between Romo and the Cowboys. I think he's OK with Booger but Garrett and #1 son, not so much. I don't think he would have taken any job with the Cowboys.

If we go deep in the playoffs it will most likely be because of our defense because if Romo wasn’t enough to carry us Dak certainly isn’t.

Well said!!
Agree

I disagree, I think most of those on the inside, the ones that ask themselves "how did we get this wrong?" have him "one the bubble". Which is exactly where he was coming out of Miss St. The Dak we saw in the last half of 2017, that was exactly what he was in college and the reason he went in the 4th.

But I agree, the talent on this offense should take this team into the playoffs unless there are too many missed opportunities. There are enough weapons and they should win enough games not needing Dak to load the team on his back. They absolutely must run the ball well, top 3 well, or they will not see the post season except on TV.
