Kellen Moore is clueless

I don't know if I even give him a break on the passing plays. No quick slants when we need to pick up a 3rd and short. Heck, little to no slants period. Screen passes to WR's that never work. RB screens that are nothing short of embarrassing to watch. Everything thrown out towards the sidelines. Abandons the hurry up offense when it is working effectively. The list goes on and on.

The WR screens never work because there is no Dez on this team. These guys are all too easy to tackle. Wasn't no 190 pound corner rag dollin Dez to the ground. Also the only WR on the squad who blocks worth a darn is Noah.. I don't know what they work on in practice to make them think those are going to work .. but they don't. They have a somewhat better chance with Dak throwing because the ball doesn't take a week to get there IF he is decisive about it. But even at that if nobody blocks the play's not going anywhere.. They tried the smoke screen to Pollard last night and got nothing from it. Mainly because the ball took so long to get there the DB was all up on Pollard by the time the ball arrived leaving him no room to do anything. I think they tried some slants but they got batted down last night. The slants out of shotgun are always tricky because you have to get the snap, grip the laces and deliver the ball in that window between the DE/OLB and the corner. If it's a tick late because the snap was low or off to one side it gets batted back in your face. If the receiver doesn't fight through and get inside position it gets undercut and possibly picked off.

I have been screaming that Moore needs to go for three years.. Welcome to the party. I'm not even surprised or disappointed when he makes a stupid call anymore. I have resolved that I just have to bide my time until he is either hired away or he screws up a 4th and inches so bad Jerry comes down from the owner's booth and fires him on the spot.
I been at the party so long on this I should get VIP privileges by now.

We have learned years ago that Moore's "genius" only manifests itself in passing plays. His play calling in the ground game catches the short bus to school. If Zeke and Pollard weren't so ridiculously talented we might not have a running game at all.
Going by to game with the G-Men.....1st and goal at the 1......KMoore opted to have Cooper Rush throw the fade to Cee Dee. And though sucessful.....it told me KMoore has no respect for a run game or safe calls. Too much trickery or risk. He should be a HC in the Mountain West or have NFL headsets on that are muted.

Not possible.. Zeke was owning them.. and even when he wasn't owning them he was pushing the pile for positive yards.. Zeke is money on 4th and inches as long as the line doesn't let the whole defense through. Just get him to the line of scrimmage with a head of steam and he moves the pile every time. But noooooo.. let's roll the unathletic QB out and ask him to make a throw with a man in his face..
I didn't have a problem with the play call but there has to be an option for the qb to run and slide for the 1st down. Maybe KM should be upstairs in the booth to see the field. The middle zone was open most of the night

Hey I’m not a Kellen Moore fan at all. But playcalling is one of the most overrated parts of football. What’s infinitely more important than calling a great play at the right moment is the execution of any play. Running the play well is what makes it a successful play. A missed block, a dropped pass…it’s not always just the “call”.

Sure making a a great “call” is important, but we don’t even know how many times our QBs check out of the play based on what the defense is showing.

The bigger problem for me with Kellen Moore is scheme. Our offense compared to most NFL teams is still pretty vanilla. Scheme, design and execution of plays are way bigger than the calling of plays IMO.

1st in pts in 2021 and 6th in points in 2019. Moore can't be doing as terribly as people want to believe. I'd be way more convinced of this argument if I didn't constantly see missed blocks and guys coming wide open that the QB didn't see.

I have to think this was something out of Moore's control. Or, maybe Moore didn't have a say in it. But they weren't running any motions out there, and they were just lining it up and apparently not changing any of their snapcounts, or doing any silent counts, etc.

I believe this was because of the noise.

Just blowing people off the line only happens when you have a serious talent advantage. Execution is not going to get the job done when you are physically outmatched.
THAT is when play calling becomes so critical; finding the matchups that are to your teams advantage; keeping the D off balance. Play calling is more important than you realize.

The 2nd play of the game he threw on on 2nd and 2....soooo stupid!!!
I came in this thread to cite this play. He has no feel for the game. You run it on that 2nd down and even if its short, you’ve just got inches to pick up on 3rd. Everyone in the stadium knew they were going to run it on 3rd and a long 2 after passing it on 2nd

I will say one thing, I am sick of seeing shotguns and empty backfields after we run for 5+ yards on first down.

On one of the early series they ran for 8 yards on first down, then went shotgun and Zeke was lined up a yard or 2 in front of Rush so it was obvious he was not going to be able to take a handoff, then on 3rd and 2 he is lined up to the left, a yard deeper than Rush, showing it was probably going to be a run play which got stuffed because the entire Eagles front 7 knew they were running to the right and jumped all over the play.

edit: reading the last 2 posts looks like none of us liked that series :D

I’m not talking about blowing people off the line. Those days are long gone.

I’m just saying up to 25-30% of the original plays called by the OC are not even run. The QB has run-pass options depending on the defense, and sometimes OCs will even call two different plays depending again on the defensive alignments.

In other words, when we see a play blow up it may not even be the one Moore called.

Brett Farve told a story about when he was at Minnesota the coaches went through the tape with him of every interception he threw in an attempt to get that number down. At the end, Farve then made the coaches go through every TD he threw and many of them were because of the same stuff they were trying to get him to stop doing.

You get to be the top-scoring offense by being aggressive. Also, don't forget that Dak audibles out of a lot plays based on the defensive looks. As for yesterday, does anyone really think it was Kellen Moore's decision to go for it on 4th down or any 4th down for that matter?

This guy is clueless. His play calls make 0 sense for the timing of the game. He has no feel for the game at all. The guy needs to go. I want him and Garretts playbook out of Dallas. There were calls last night that were absolutely mind boggling. Im sorry for ranting but this guy is bad for this team. They need to get rid of him this offseason. Let him go ruin someone else
yeah, been saying this for years, but hey he may be HC of cowboys some day lol.
jerry talked him into staying, so he wont be let go anytime soon.

he is the oc though , he controls all those options. it is his show good or bad
