Kellen has his faults..- that he still puts on display.

One that continues to limit this team is, .. he is just not good at designing the RB in the pass game.

It makes us much more easier to defend, and teams can better play back into heavy zones and not fear what happens underneath.
Our quick screens to the RBs sux, … where our OL were once comfortable and specialize in it per 2016/2017 zeke/linehan dayz, it looks like clumsy and sloppy
and non-coordinated under Kellen, who just does not emphasize it enuff to develop it properly,. So he ignores the RB screen and prefers those bubble screens instead.

- Pollard remains a non-factor in pass game whereas with his skill set and explosiveness, he should deadly McCaffrey-Kamara like.
Even the Run game design is really bland that offers little to no misdirection.

- And I believe teams are (have been) catching up to Kellen’s route design and tendencies.
and with any offense, OC, you have to be able to further evolve and expand.
And stay ahead of “blueprint’ defenses- to which KMoore just does not know how to adjust.

- But for all of his faults, I credit him for staying with the run vs Philly, and that actually helped us get right back in competing late game vs Philly.
However I’m assuming that was necessity for Cooper, that he would not do with Dak.

In fact, my concern is that once Dak returns, - Kellen will go right back to pass happy Dak, and only partially use the run game.
He should have started his career as the passing game coordinator at best.

I said it when he was hired that he is green. He has to take his lumps. He has to learn and he will get schooled and make mistakes. That's exactly what has happened. Further that he didn't have a mentor, learn good and bad from a good OC or head coach. He learned from linehan who was a 90s relic and Garrett (need I say more). Hopefully that promotion has not stunted his growth as an OC. But normally when you jump to a position you are not ready for, the learning curve is longer

I'm worn out from wearing Kellen Moore out. At this point I'm numb to his play calling deficiencies. I know the guys are talented enough to make an exciting play here and there but I never allow myself to see this team as a serious contender with a guy calling the plays who has so little feel for the game. Even if I were to believe that the reason we pass so much is because Dak audibles out of the run too much that doesn't explain what we have seen for long stretches with Cooper Rush at QB.. particularly last Sunday.. The running game is giving you 5 yards a pop, your QB is giving away INTs like candy at Halloween. So your solution is to throw it way more than you run it.. In fact in any short yardage situation you don't even bother to give the ball to you 225 pound battering ram.. You throw it.. I mean.. why not? Why break character now?
His best position is a passing game coordinator

He is way over his head as an OC. Quinn bailed him out the past few games.
.to your point he has no feel for the game or how to set up a defense. His play. Calling seems so random at times.

I hate seeing Rush(and Dak too) come out in the 5 wide sets that wasn't a 3rd down. Under center with a RB keeps the defense much more honest.

RonnieT you make a lot of sense here and I applaud you on the 1st and goal throw from the 12 inch line to Lamb that you mentioned against the Giants. I agree the running game is being under utilized especially at strategic points. As a play caller Moore tries to get cute at times and it works out and other times it doesn't. I try and look at the good plays he calls and even look at the plays he calls that would have worked or did if not for penalties or a player not being true to his blocking assignment. He has a way of not going with the flow of the games at times even I'll admit.

These are two of my biggest criticisms of Moore.. cute works against sorry teams and poorly coached teams and it makes you look like a genius. Against good teams with good coaching it makes you look like an idiot. And he absolutely lacks any feel for the flow of the game.. If he did he wouldn't be going 5 wide empty on 2nd and 2 after Zeke or Pollard just ran for 8 on 1st down. I was really happy Zeke took that one in from the 14 yard line because you could almost feel Moore was getting ready to send in the 5 wide empty backfield look with Zeke at wide receiver and nobody in the block. The way Zeke ran in that second half just think what he could have done with more carries in the FIRST half to get his juices flowing. He didn't get going until the second half because he didn't get the ball until the second half. Once he got rollin it energized the team and opened up the play action game for Rush. When the offense became balanced Philly really had no answer for it. But Kellen Moore did.. We had moved the ball well on the ground the entire 2nd half.. so Moore kills any chance we had to come back with more stinkin passing. Oh and did I mention that the 3rd INT came with Pollard in at the back? Did we notice that Pollard didn't even look at the DE before leaking out? I don't blame him for that.. I blame the coaches.. You know if you're going to take a deep shot you need Zeke in there plain and simple. But again.. "zero feel for the game.."

I don't know if I even give him a break on the passing plays. No quick slants when we need to pick up a 3rd and short. Heck, little to no slants period. Screen passes to WR's that never work. RB screens that are nothing short of embarrassing to watch. Everything thrown out towards the sidelines. Abandons the hurry up offense when it is working effectively. The list goes on and on.
Slants are great! But the WR and QB have to be on the same page with that. Dak has to set his feet and throw to a spot and not where the Wr is at. The WR needs to get to said spot on time, and not force the QB to double clutch because he's late.

Just add a few more jet sweeps and WR screens! A ridiculous Jerry decision hiring an offensive HC, telling the HC to stay out of the way while handing the reins to yet another inexperienced OC. It’s unbelievable. Even if you did want to keep him, you find an assistant position and let him work his way up. This will be more talent wasted on another learning curve.

That description is pretty accurate, he has that in common with Jason Garrett as an offensive coordinator.

Kellen Moore is terrified of running the ball, even with a backup quarterback. He sent that message on the very first drive. It's 2nd and 2 and you pass? Run the ball! Run it twice if you have to!

How many times are the Cowboys RB's going to perform better than their opponents, only to get half the carries?

26 carries for 5.2 yards a carry for the Cowboys.

38 carries for 3.7 yards a carry for the Eagles.

And the Cowboys are the one with the backup QB! Ridiculous!

When your down double digits, you have to dial back on the running plays. Football 101. Nothing to do with Moore being pass happy.

Then there is that little fact that the Eagles were way up on us most of the night and would situationally be running more. And throw in the fact that our pass rush and defense is our strength and thats more reason why Eagles ran more.

These are common sense, basic football reasonings that because you fail to grasp, you falsely create an issue where there wasnt one and blame Moore where there was no blame.

I would have.. Just as I mentioned the 1st and goal throw from the 12 inch line to Lamb against who was it? the Giants? Yes it was successful.. but no it was not a good call. It was bailed out by great execution but it does not change the fact that running the ball in that situation would have been a) much safer and b) exact more of a toll on the defensive front for later in the game. Moore (and apparently some of our fans) simply don't understand the cumulative effect of the "body blows" the running game exacts from a defensive front. Just ask our own defense how they felt when Philly ran the ball 11 straight plays on that 4th quarter drive? One anything less than a yard I'm giving Zeke the ball a hundred out of a hundred times. The only time he has ever been stopped in that scenario has been when the line lets the whole defense jailbreak into the backfield. If it's just one or two guys he's dragging them for the first down. And having to fight off blocks and tackle Zeke takes a toll on the defenders too. Which will pay dividends later in the game.

I have long since accept that Moore doesn't get this.. but it won't stop me from pointing it out.. even on the rare occasion when his trickeration succeeds.

LOL.........so unless the call is to give the ball to zeke, even if it works, its a bad call?

Typical delusional, obsessive reasoning. The reason Zeke doensnt get the ball more is because he typically doesnt get the job done.

Sunday night was a rare game where he actually was very effective. Ironically it was zeke coming in in the 2nd half after Pollard softened them up. A tired defense, Zeke was actually able to make a few moves on.

Sounds like a better formula to me. I hope they stick with it.

Play calling wasn't the problem, but it was a problem. It's not a good idea to have a QB with a weak arm throwing screens out to a receiver standing still. You're lucky if the ball gets to Lamb before the defender gets to the ball. It seemed like most of the plays had our guys running right into the teeth of the defense.

I've never been a Moore detractor, but for the most part, he's very predictable.

I am a Moore detractor, but that's because he abandons the run, doesn't make adjustments for the talent that is on the field, doesn't make adjustments to help struggling players, and often inexplicably abandons what's working to get cute (much like Garrett did).

He's overrated and still should not be an OC. That's been proven time and again.

I didn't fail to notice that the Cowboys lost. Therefore, no matter how vigorously you extoll the virtues of their strategy, it didn't work. But we knew it wouldn't work.

As I mentioned, this aversion to the running game began on the second play of the first drive in the first quarter. They were not down by double digits, were they? They have 2nd and two and they pass? Get the freakin' first down. Run the clock. Keep the Eagles offense on the bench.

Third drive, 1st and ten on the Cowboys 25 yard line. That's not Troy Aikman deep within their own territory.

It is 7-0 at that particular time. Time to panic? Time to abandon the run? Time for Cooper Rush to display the incredible passing skills that made him a rookie free agent, capable of passing waivers to be put on the practice squad? Really?

And the offensive line, playing against a stout pass rushing Eagle defense. What can this offensive line do better at this point, pass blocking or run blocking?

What produced that double digit deficit? It was the result of Cooper Rush passing the ball instead of handing it off.

Fourth drive, halfway through the 2nd quarter. Well, it's a double digit deficit now, but so what? The first half isn't even over. 4th and 1 on their own 34 yard line and they pass??? Again, really???

You actually justify this by saying it was a double digit deficit? With 37 minutes of play still on the clock? I didn't fail to notice that either, but you are cool with this? After all, Cooper Rush's passing numbers indicate he can just light them up whenever he wants? Not only that, but when you pass, you are preserving time on the clock for the Eagles offense, That is what we wanted right?

Everything Kelln Moore did was contradictory to protecting your backup quarterback and not making him vulnerable to mistakes, but that's common sense in your world. You have a productive tandem of RB's that is averaging over 5 yards a carry, capable of wearing down this Eagle defense eventually.

But of course you pass, because that's what you do when you have a good defense and a good running game with your backup quarterback while your starting TE and 2nd receiver are just now coming back from injuries and your 3rd WR still hasn't hit the field. You pass!!!

Brilliant!.......except it didn't work......did it?

What else did I "fail to grasp"?

We have learned years ago that Moore's "genius" only manifests itself in passing plays. His play calling in the ground game catches the short bus to school. If Zeke and Pollard weren't so ridiculously talented we might not have a running game at all.

His trapping in the run game worked last week.

This guy is clueless. His play calls make 0 sense for the timing of the game. He has no feel for the game at all. The guy needs to go. I want him and Garretts playbook out of Dallas. There were calls last night that were absolutely mind boggling. Im sorry for ranting but this guy is bad for this team. They need to get rid of him this offseason. Let him go ruin someone else

Ive been saying this for the longest.... KM is the dumbest offensive coordinator in the league. Every time were gashing teams for 4,5,6 yards a pop on the ground.... he stops calling run plays and dial up 50 passing plays, even in run situations.

KM may be a good offensive coordinator in high school, but definitely not good in the NFL.

I've never liked so many posts in one thread! lol
How many Defensive players have come out saying they knew what we were going to do??
Let that sink in.
