Kellen Moore to Saints

You know, I thought Siriani was a joke as well.

That said, I was scratching my head on exactly why Laurie and Roseman were keeping him on after last years flop and one and done and flameout in the first round playoffs.

The funny thing is it's that same joke that was their head coach that won this years superbowl...

I can only guess it's something those two men saw in Siriani that the fans couldn't see behind the public display that head coach put on.
I think winning masks a lot of things. Last year all their top players were were ready to choke him out. This year they got lucky some of the top teams in the NFC had a ton of injuries. I dont think he's a good coach and I think he'll get exposed as well.

He is a poor man's Norv at best. Heck, he might just be poor man's Linehan.

....bwahahhaha..... same here. Grass isnt always greener on otherside.

With super bowl win, Im surprised he took it. He could have stayed with Philly and go for #2.
I'm a little bit surprised. There will probably be 5-6 openings next year with teams that aren't cap strapped and have Derek Carr as the QB. The Saints have a barely average roster. If he stayed in Philly and Philly somehow got to the SB again, he'd have his choice of the best jobs on the market.

I've heard and read a few things about him. Apparently, the players love him because he backs them 100%. Even when they disagree and yell at each other, they know it's nothing personal and it's back to business. He listens and takes suggestions. He is the CEO that gives his coordinators a long leash. He holds the players responsible for doing their job. When a player can't or won't get with the program, they don't play, and it doesn't matter how much money you make (see Bryce Huff as an example). He's brash but he can put aside his ego. Note how different the team played after the bye this year, and during the 2022 run the team played better when he gave up play calling to Steichen. He looks like a douchy-faced gasbag to us, but he gets results. He just wins.

..yep, good points. When the Iron is hot, use it.

..do we play NOLA this year? ..This will be good.. lol..

Hope Kellen does well in New Orleans like Payton did.

Don't tell that to the Kellen Moore fans who give him credit for the Eagles winning the Superbowl.
Nothing he’s done so far in his career matters now. It’s all about being a head coach and anyone involved in the NFL understands the challenge that is the New Orleans Saints at this moment in time. His reputation is what he makes it and players and coaches all over the league will become aware of it. If he’s any good, even if the Saints aren’t, he’ll get NFL jobs in the future. Most likely he’s gone before three seasons. He’ll establish himself one way or the other.

There have been a lot of NFL head coaches better than Moore will ever be that have been terminated. He is stepping up to a tremendous challenge. No football fan on earth knows better what he’s facing than he does. If you can’t pull for guys like Schottenheimer and Moore, Glenn and Johnson, you’re not a real fan. None of them are walking into ideal situations. All four will be fired at some point. So it goes.

This board is a trip. When it looked like Kellen was going to be the coach it seemed to be a unanimous negative hire. Now the board is hoping he wins with the Saints.

I'm surprised he would take the last available job in the league on an absolute mess of a team with an aging roster and bad cap situation. Why not just go back to Philly , try for a repeat, and then get your first choice next year?
Agreed. Read where he will make 2 to 3 times the money he was getting in Philly so maybe that's the deciding factor.

Take out the money and it's not good fit. Good thing he's young. If it doesn't work, he's got time for a second chance.

Maybe everyone is happy he’s not the Cowboys’ head coach. I don’t believe anyone here really cares about the Saints unless Dallas is playing them or they’re both vying for the last playoff spot. Neither will occur this coming season. Wishing him well doesn’t really matter. Both teams stink.

I don’t think it’s going to work out well either. Nothing against Kellen but he benefited from Roseman and Barkley more than anything.

It just goes to show you what a great GM can do for a franchise. We basically ran Moore out of town and celebrated when he left. Then he wins a Super Bowl and is a HC. If anything this should be a mirror held up to Jerry and Stephen to examine themselves.

We will see
