Its interesting to at least think about where we would be if he hadn't got injured..............Just wondering how things would have played out? and where he goes from here? Its a terrible thing for me to say, but I'm thankful he was injured........

This is very true. However there is also the possibility the Prescott passes him in camp and preseason

Perhaps, but playing for the most part with the starters really sped up Prescott's progress in the preseason. Moore would have definitely got in the way. Moore is not good enough to have held him off but I am certain that he would have started the first two or three games and lost. That would have impacted Prescott and put a lot more pressure on him.

I feel Kellen Moore is a RKG and a real student of the game which can be a real influence to be around. Going forward with Kellen Moore I can see him as a backup next year, I have no love for Sanchez and feel Tony is not destined to be our long term backup in 2017 with his contract. I hope we draft someone as a project in late round, I know the media states this upcoming draft has a dearth of talent in the QB position and I am not one to qualify a NFL QB after noting nothing special in Dak from last year. I see the handwriting on the wall with Linehan, he will get a chance at head coaching again if the boys continue winning. If this happens it could provide an alternative offensive scheme next year which students of the game typically acquire more quickly.

We are doomed if Moore is the backup next year. Romo will be. Jerry's not giving him away for peanuts just because fans don't like his contract.

No but he will trade him because Tony wants a chance to start for a superbowl contender. If people don't think Jerry loves Tony that much, they aren't paying attention. Jerry loves Tony like a son and will trade him to the team that Tony approves while getting as many draft picks as he can. I expect he will get a first and third.

If Romo is traded does Moore become the backup? Will it be Sanchez?

Would we use a pick acquired in a Romo trade to draft another QB hoping to strike gold again?

Will Romo Back up Dak giving us the best 1-2 QB punch in the history of the game? Would Romo take a pay cut and stay?

Lots to ponder here.

I think that if Linehan goes, Moore follows, unless he's offered a role here in coaching and realizes that playing is not where his future lies.

Regardless, I don't think he will ever be more than this team's #3 quarterback, if he does stick around.

I don't think it is a matter of fans not liking the contract I think when your talking 24.7 million next season on the cap that is money that can bring in a top DE FA or another top player. I love Romo but it would be beyond stupid to make the highest paid player on the team a backup. Some thing has to give.

I am not that down on Moore especially when you look at the rest of the league and see the backups. I do not like Sanchez, his head is not always screwed on correctly when playing IMO. Watch the Patriots and what they do with their situation, aging QB, and several viable candidates in waiting. I bet they trade one or both of those backups.
You make a good point about Moore possibly following Linehan. In a fantasy world you have a great backup, but these days that is rarely the case. I take a smart guy who loves football like Moore over someone like Sanchez.

It might have taken a preseason game or two but Daks intangibles would have left noodle arm in the Dust

Which one? Dak doesn't exactly sport a cannon.

That's overrated though. Joe Montana had a noodle arm. A lot of big arms fail miserably in the pros.

Sanchez > Moore
I think Moore is a standard backup in the NFL in 2016. I understand talent wise the argument for Sanchez, he is Weeden version 2.0 in my mind. Mark Sanchez has the talent but it does not link up with the head when pressure hits. Neither Moore or Sanchez is starter material unless there is an injury or suspension in 2017. I realize that this team would not be 8-1 with Moore behind the wheel. Sanchez had all the chances in the world and he crumbled at each moment of pressure with the Jets and for him to be let go with what the Bronco's have for QB is a testament to the caliber of backup QB's.
