AbsolutelyFair enough, but I (and I assume all the other fans watching games on TV) just hope that his knowledge translates into actual success at some point.

"Winning games"...as it relates to Moore as a QB. He was a QB before he was a QB coach.
I would say he failed at his latest job because Dak showed no improvement on the issues he was having throughout the course of the season...based on that. When did I say Dak was elite? Maybe he's terrible and no QB coach can fix him. But based on his continued tendencies to hold the ball too long, panic in the pocket, miss reads, not even TRY to look beyond the first read, take sacks...yes, I'd say Moore failed. Again, unless Dak is just that bad.
So you're equating play as a player to coaching? Then you're just being silly and nobody should listen to you.
So because of Dak's deficiencies (which many of us have pointed out that many are not fixable through coaching or hard work, but are due to a lack of natural ability and instincts), that means Kellen isn't successful? What would Dak be without Kellen's help? Dak did show some pocket improvement late in the season/playoffs. But yeah...Dak could be just that bad (considering his issues, he could be doing a lot worse).
I think his knowledge or lack thereof will be 1000 times more evident with him as an OC...assuming he actually has much control and it's just not more of Garrett's same crap filtered through Moore.
Even coming out of Boise, he was crowned a "Football Wizard."

Gentlemen, we have suffered for years with Linehan... Kellen comes from an offense that lit up defenses, and THREW THE BALL DOWN FIELD, something we have been dying to see these last 3 years especially. Romo would over rule the OC and call his own plays on the field and he would light up the D's. Linehan's notorious 'ironfist' made it impossible to anything but 1- RUN ON FIRST DOWN every freaking series, and NOT throw it down field (except maybe 1 or 2 times a game), IF THAT.
This could be a blessing, and has a better than 50/50 chance to turn out like McVey did with LA RAMS.
Give this guy a chance... sure as hell can't do any worse than Linehan!!
It always strikes me when people say Romo "overruled" the OC. It's an audible, and experienced QBs do that. The OC knows when he calls a play the QB has the option to audible based on the defensive alignment he sees as they come up to the line. It's part of the offense.
Please, I beg YOU to not listen to me. I stopped at your first line, because I didn't equate playing to coaching, and if you aren't going to read the posts before you attempt to debate, please refrain from debating.
Yes, of course it's an audible (but he also overruled the OC in the huddle, I've heard him talk about it)... and he 'audibled' nearly every play - LOL. Especially our vaunted Run up the middle on first down.
His winning (which QBs do not do, teams do) as a QB is what your were using as criteria for him exhibiting his knowledge so that he can coach.
In order to avoid looking foolish, I would suggest you not reference his team's success while he was a player in any kind of argument for what kind of coach he is, or knowledge he possesses.
In order to avoid looking foolish, I would suggest you read posts thoroughly before debating. And it's perfectly legitimate to take in his cumulative success in the NFL when he has been touted as a football wizard in every position he has been in. And seriously, please stop listening to me.
some of you are working over-time to feel better about Cowboys so you can finally get sleep again.

It is in no way legitimate. Awful players can be extremely knowledgeable and great coaches. It's far more common than the reverse.
Nobody is listening to you because your arguments are absurd.
That wasn't a constant thing though. QBs see things happening on the field that can't be seen from the sidelines, and based on that I'm sure a lot of veteran QBs have done that once in awhile.
I agree,,, but I think they are going to give him every chance to develop his own playbook. If S**t is working and successful, and the players like his stuff, then they will give him more and more leeway. He could easily become the next McVay. With our weapons on offense, we have the ability to blow teams out. Hopefully we lose the conservative as hell mindset, and open this thing up. If we play to win, and don't play 'not to lose' (Garrett/Linehan's MO) then we can be hugely successful. The issue is will Kellen actually be allowed to implement that offense or will he be forced to work with the Garrett playbook? If it's the latter, I don't expect much to change.
Lol...yet you continue to listen to me. Funny, huh? If you want me to say I think Moore will be great at coaching when he has done nothing as a coach to warrant being OC, sorry, kid...ain't gonna happen. Don't know what else to say. Guess you'll have to stop listening to me (fingers crossed).
Your "listening" remarks are just weird.
And I don't want you to say that at all. Just hoping for a logical argument. I have no idea if he'll be a good coach. I do know his ability as a player in yhe NFL has nothing to do with it.
My listening remark was actually a play on your own remark. You said nobody was listening to me and you continued to listen to me. That's weird.
Now, I can argue about Kellen Moore all day long if you want to...we have, actually. I never at any point claimed he would not be a good coach because he was a bad player. I said that to this point, there is no reason to think he is a great football genius in the NFL (as he is allegedly is) based on what he's done to this point (results, not theoretical smarts), as a player and a coach. If you want to wash his player status, that's fine. Then he still has shown nothing thus far as a coach. Unless you want to argue Dak's issues are beyond anybody's help, thus washing his coaching status as well. That's about the best case that can be made for Moore at this point. Or, maybe Moore is clueless about how to play QB and coach a QB, but he's Ernie Zampese as OC.
