Kelvin Joseph has been unimpressive

Today: Kelvin Joseph vs Jaguars (1st quarter)

2 weeks ago: Kelvin Joseph vs the Cardinals

3 weeks ago: Joseph vs the Steelers

Joseph plays well half the time but also gets beat other times. Very raw.

America's Cowboy--- only thing i got to be honest....i was going to stop the cancer sticks for good....but too much stress for me as game one gets here....Cowboys do take you on a ride whether you like it or not

You're so right brother.

Truly hope you feel better.

I'm saying that I hope he plays red hot to where QBs don't want to touch him with a pass his way. Kelvin is a lesser known unit of temperature measurement (Celsius and Fahrenheit are better known of course)

Furboy--- he only played sparingly in 6 games true freshman at LSU and 9 games as sophmore at Kentucky with 4 Int's.....he needs sufficient time to adjust to NFL...he's got both physical and mental talent

bossman fat becomes

our # 1 CB in time.....he wont be 22 until November....young man little experience....total diamond in the rough my opinion.....great pick give him time

Oh fur sure hehe. Just wanted to use the Kelvin chemistry joke there cuz it's hard to get that opportunity.

Kevin Smith was 17th overall in 1992 and didn't start until around WK 11 or 12 over Ike Holt. Looked like one of the best rookie CBs I've seen on their way to the Super Bowl.

speed....i remember...i became die hard cowboy fan watching them play Colts in super bowl 5 and i was so crushed they lost 16-13....but from then on...but i did not have news of what is going on with them like we can get now....one would have to subscribe to a Dallas newspaper...i did not do that...so it was crumbs on the deeper stuff with players....but come game day....all in.....and i have smashed things when they lose close ones or make dumb mistakes......except during later part of 80's when they were not good ..i would not watch....made me physically sick....but back in 1992 i remmeber Kevin Smith small guy but tough cookie....back then individual players other than the stars i did not care about i trusted the coaching.....not so much now...sorry dont know why i wrote you a book....when i could have sent a post card?

We could have used that pick on a RT.
AND,,

that rookie could have got hurt in ps and also that rookie rt could have been bust and not ready to start..

wow!!! woulda coulda shoulda game in full effect,..nice :rolleyes:o_O

you are NOT an NFL scout, coach, or gm..please get over it they did what they felt needed to be done to make their team better,...saying rookie RT would have beat out steele, knight, or TY and assuming he didnt get hurt as well is making an ASSOUTOFYOUANDNOT ME lol:laugh::popcorn:

I remember being a kid in Arlington and an ardent follower of the draft already. After the Cowboys drafted Kevin Smith and Robert Jones in the 1st round the DMN or Ft. Worth Star Telegram (can’t remember) put out a big graphic of both those guys in the sports page which I cut out and put on the wall of my bedroom.

Jimmy Smith was really my favorite player of that draft haul (Darren Woodson was also part of that class).

Due to his limited snaps and immaturity he is going to need time. Lets hope for the best, but it probably will not help much this year.

I keep going back to that draft. I wonder how we would look if we traded up slightly for Christian Barmore. Add him Osa and Gallimore and you have the start of an interesting D-line interior. I really liked what I have seen from Osa and Gallimore showed flashes last year, but they are still missing that stud. Add that guy and guys like Osa and Gallimore become even more valuable.
.
It will be interesting to see how Joseph compares to some CB/S who went near him. But I am also watching guys like Barmore.

My only beef...

YOU DON'T DRAFT PROJECTS IN THE 2ND ROUND.

2nd rounders are supposed to be starters.

Joseph should have been drafted in the 3rd+.
Where you getting the project thing? He was a projected first to second round pick by basically all draft pundits. He wasn’t a reach at all.

Few cornerbacks are polished starters by week 1 of their rookie season. If they are that good they are top 10 picks. Remember Diggs last season? Also the CB’s picked in KJ’s range like Tyson Campbell haven’t been impressive either. Rookie DB’s that aren’t prodigies take time to develop brotha.

Brother, Nfl.com had him rated as a good backup with the potential to become a starter. Had him going between the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I personally felt he was a 3rd + round pick because of the very few college games he actually ever played.

Many other websites had Joseph as either a 3rd or later rounds project who was going to need time to build into a starter.

Totally get that there were some sites that rated him there, but no one was surprised to see him go in round 2. He wasn’t a reach by any means is basically my point.

Also, there are positions where transitions to starting are much harder. Positions like DT and CB take a year to really get going. No 2nd round CB was gonna come in and be an immediate starter, it’s just not the nature of the position. Think about Diggs. Obviously he was a good 2nd round pick, but he wasn’t a good starter until week 8ish.

Any CB drafted outside the top 15 is going to be somewhat of a project. You can’t really make a judgment until later in the season or next year for any DB not taken in the top 15.

Remember the 91 Detroit playoff loss?

Our corners got shredded.

We played that off man cover the entire game.

I can see why Jimmy wanted a CB in the draft.

If you trade up you are losing a 3rd round pick.

Im not losing Joseph and Gholston/Wright for Baremore.

Joseph has potential to be a lock down corner and looked really good in preseason. The times he was best was mostly against starters in this league but tackled them or escorted them to the sideline with minimal gain. Gave up 0 TDs and came up to tackle in the run game.

I don't get the dislike for Joseph unless its because of his rapping. Can't be because of play.
