What plays? When? I never see them when USC is on. It doesnt show up on the stat sheets either. No PD's...no picks...no forced fumbles

I guess you havent noticed, but thats exactly what goes on here right now.

He is the classic look like tarzan, play like jane type.

He led the team with 9 PD's last year. I'm telling you, teams don't throw deep over the middle on him. I wish they would. The kid has averaged 60 tackles a year despite being the last line of defense on a team that has guys like Keith Rivers, Rey Maualuga, Clay Matthews, Brian Cushing, Lawrence Jackson, Sedric Ellis, and other NFL draft picks flying to the ball.

I honestly just don't get the hate on him. It's such a night-and-day difference watching the safety play in USC games on Saturdays and then watching the Cowboys safeties on Sundays.

Back to Hamlin, you gotta think the guys are making comments on film days. Where is his pride? his ego? Something has to motivate this guy to play better.

He looked bad vs. Ohio St.

I don't really see what the hype is all about either. He definitely doesn't play with 4.2 speed.

Kenny Easley 1981 Draft 4th overall
Ronnie Lott 1981 Draft 8th overall
Mark Carrier 1990 Draft 6th overall
Eric Turner 1991 Draft 2nd overall
Troy Polamalu 2003 Draft 16th overall
Sean Taylor 2004 Draft 5th overall
Laron Landry 2006 Draft 6th overall

Great players get drafted high regardless of position. I don't get the whole "you don't draft safeties high" mentality. If he's a great player and you need a safety, you take him high.

Ronnie Lott was drafted as a corner. But you could add Roy Williams to that list. The problem is that there were other S taken further down that were just as successful. Top 10 money on a safety is not sound economics. That may change if the cap is done away with, or not. But even way back when, Jerry was very concious of what positions were taken w/his first rounders, especially if they are high first rounders. For example, you want to spend the big dollars on the skill positions like QB, RB, LT, CB or pass rusher. You don't draft a guard or center in the top 10 even if they are the best OL in the class. You just can't overdraft at certain positions. Once in a lifetime players are the exception.

Aside from Polamalu (Lott was a corner), maybe Easley, I would not have taken any of them w/a top 10 pick. That said, drafting a safety with your own top ten pick and trading TWO first rounders and 2nd rounder for that pick are two very different scenarios.

Taylor mays is a good player but if Dallas drafts a safety he is just the type of safety we need to stay away from.

Yes he may be fast in a straight line but he is big and he is stiff. He lumbers a little bit.

Dallas needs a Safety that is Quick, Agile, Smart, and Rangey.

I think Taylor Mays would be better suited playing for a team up North that has harsh weather conditions rather than playing in the State of Texas on a Turf field that allows for fast football every week.

Several of those guys proved to be nowhere near worth where they were drafted at too. And Lott was drafted as a CB.
