I thought he was leading with his shoulder... also that the SIDE of Hamlin's helmet hit shoebell's facemask.

well it may have but that can be said about every tackle. The point where the draw the line is if the helmet is the first thing to make contact and it wasn't.

Now he may get a fine for launching himself and going high but IMO that was a clean hit. When you start fining guys just for big hits, its time to just put flags on them.

Funny - Hamlin had to come out of the game to have his HELMET repaired. It was helmet to helmet but to my eye he was trying to lead with shoulder and roll away from helmet to helmet but he got him.

he was and it's very hard to tell if the side of Hamlin's helmet made contact with Schobel's facemask.

it was more like Hamlin's earhole to Schobel's facemask if anything, and even that is very questionable

THat isn't questionable at all. The side of Hamlin's helmet hit the front of Schobel's helmet (often referred to as the facemask). This occurred before any other contact. This cannot be denied. It was helmet-to-helmet. Does the rule stipulate where on the helmet you can and cannot make contact?? I don't know. Would be stupid if it did.

Holy homerism, Batman. I'm embarrassed to be a Cowboys fan, reading some of the blatant bias on this thread. I'll admit he was trying to get his shoulder on him. I don't believe there was intent to hit with his helmet. Again, I don't know the letter of the rule, but the hit was helmet-to-helmet.

No doubt another example of Troy's anti-Cowboy bias. He must really loathe us!!

what part of "lead with shoulder" do you not understand??

let me spell it out for you since you seem incapable of making an informed decision for yourself:

Hamlin leads with shoulder, therefore shoulder hits first

not helmet to helmet.. kthx bye

Exactly...Helmet to helmet...Honestly, the debate that wages on over two plays (This one and Roy's Horsecollar is ridiculous)...They were bad plays by the safeties (Where have we heard this before?).

And, no, the ground didn't result in Hamlin's helmet requiring work on the sidelines...Schobel's helmet contact did.

Moreover, even Micky Spagnola pointed out that there's a possibility that Hamlin will be hit with a punitive measure as well...Doubtful it's for a 'shoulder' to helmet hit

He led with his shoulder. Adam broke this one down already and was 100% right IMO.

I think the point is that it isn't a foul unless the contact is from leading with the helmet.

Even Calvin Watkins has reported in the Dallas News that Hamlin could be facing punishment from the league for 'helmet to helmet' hit.

This debate is only slightly less ridiculous than the Roy Williams 'Did he do it or not' thread on horsecollaring.
