Ken Hamlin's hit on Schobel WAS NOT HELMET TO HELMET

The Eagles' LaJuan Ramsey was penalized (and fined) for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Julius Jones during our game at Philadelphia this season.

That was a hit when Jones progress was stopped and he was stood up, then creamed. I'm talking specifically about Barber-like running plays where theses hits are the rule rather than the exception. In those cases, I can't ever remember them being called as a penalty, much less a fine. Players lead with their head all the time. You're told to lead with your face, but it is instinctive to put your head down. That's why so many Defensive players have compressed vertabrae problems in the neck area (ask me how I know).

From the way that rule is described, 'helmets touching' and 'leading with helmets' aren't the same thing. It's a stretch to say Hamlin butted, speared, ro rammed with his helmet on that play, which is why the penalty wasn't called.

The defenseless player issue, i agree with, is the bigger question. Still was a hell of a hit, though.

Yeah, I was being a little facetious with the "helmets touching" part, I think its pretty clear that he lead with his shoulder and their helmets hit. I don't think his intent was any more malicious than just trying to lay him out with his shoulder. No spearing, no butting, no ramming etc...

But having said that, I was ecstatic with the hit, although I felt sorry for Schobel, its just a very sad and unfortunate fact he was wearing an Eagle's jersey Sunday.

Is there really a question if thier helmets touched? I think the bigger question is, was Schobel in a defenseless position? Not that it really matters, some people see with their eyes, some people see with their hearts...

Apparently those you are saying are seeing with their hearts were the ones actually paying attention. It's Thursday and, while some thought Hamlin would certainly get a fine....all we're hearing is crickets:confused: Here's to good vision!!!:beer2:

I don't believe that anyone was saying that the intent was to lead with the helmet and that he would definitly get a fine.

The title of this post says that it was not helmet to helmet and it clearly was helmets hitting first.

That hit was absolutely sweet. If you listen to the crowd after it, the crowd is just buzzing.

I've downloaded every game this year from TYT.com and to be honest, I don't plan on downloading the eagles game because it was awful. However, I may get it for that 1 single play.
