The Rams have released defensive tackle Kendall Langford , the team announced Thursday afternoon.

Langford, a seven-year veteran, spent the past three seasons in St. Louis. After starting each game in 2012 and 2013, the defensive tackle started only four this past season due to the emergence of AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, Aaron Donald . He finished 2014 with 51 tackles, 15 quarterback pressures, five quarterback hits, 1.0 sacks, and a forced fumble, according to stats based on the coaches’ film review. In all, Langford recorded 177 tackles and 8.0 sacks as a Ram.

Prior to his arrival in St. Louis, Langford played four seasons for Miami, which made him a third-round pick in 2008. He’s registered 16.0 sacks and five forced fumbles over the course of his career.

I like him for a bargain rotational player. I woukd also like to add Jared Ordrick this offseason for a rotational player if the price is righy. Can't have to much good depth on the DL.

I agree. Provides a lot of flexibility on the DL in being able to play DE and DT.

I'd be very interested in Langford. I'll add him to my list of Pea and Peters of reasonably priced DT's that would be a good fit for us

I agree that he's probably a better fit as a 3-4 DE.

Quite frankly he hasn't been all that good.

Kendall Langford was released in a salary cap move by the Rams (they save 6M).

He played both the 1tech and 3tech positions in 2014. I reviewed him in some 2014 games. He was really good against the run and has better than average quickness as a 1tech. He did draw double teams often.

I don't think the Cowboys will sign a 1tech, but if they did this guy looks better than Paea from Chicago to me.

He would definitely be an upgrade over Hayden.

I still believe that the starting 1tech will come from the group of Brent, Bishop and T. McClain unless they do something crazy and sign a big time player that can be a pass rusher at either the 1tech or 3tech position which is what Suh did in Detroit.

Your standards seem extremely high but you don't want the high priced FAs either,if its up to you who would you sign?

My hope is that this year we go from average to good on defense, great is 2 drafts away. Langford isn't an all pro, but he is definitely better then Hayden. I think If we add 1 stud (Hardy) and 1-2 slightly better upgrades at 1T and in the secondary then we'll go from an average to a good defense

Just having a 1T than can draw double teams will be an improvement over what he had there in Hayden.

What about Knighton?? Any thoughts of bringing him over?

Knighton is a big plugger type which is not normally what Marinelli is looking for in his DTs.

What do you think of Corey Peters from Atlanta @xwalker ? Had a chance to watch him at all? The achilles injury from 2013 is a little scary but he should be fully recovered after playing through most of last year

His stats certainly went down in a 4-3. 3-4 teams may be willing to pay more for him.

Actually, his numbers kinda went down when the Rams drafted Donald. If you look at 2013, the season just prior the Rams drafting Donald, 49 Tackles, 36 Solo, 5 Sacks and 4 batted down passes. In 2013, the Rams ran a 46.

He's 29 so as a DT, he's still in his prime for probably another 3 seasons or so. 6'6" 313 lbs. Since he was not a starter last season, I'd guess that he will not be crazy expensive but IDK. He seems like exactly the kind of player we would be interested in.

Stephen Jones has said the team wants to get younger at this posistion. He's the same age as Hayden. While he's a better player i think Dallas is going to go with McClain, Brent and Bishop at the 1 this yr.

so you are saying Marinelli's ideal 1 tech is the great Hayden who gets beat one on one.
