Keyshawn Johnson retired... to join ESPN

Some examples...

Keyshawn: "He reminds me of me..."

Keyshawn: "Calvin Johnson is a mixture of me and say Randy Moss."

Keyshawn: "When I came into the league as the overall number 1 pick in 1997..."

Keyshawn: "Teams need a big, go to WR like myself..."

And people say TO loves himself. :omg:

As I said I did not agree with a lot of what he was saying or the self love feast at times. But some things I did agree such as I think Teams do need big go to WR like Keyshawn in their lineups. I never said Key was modest. :laugh2:

Its kind of hard to NOT find a top WR ( or one who thinks of himself as a top WR) who does not overtly or covertly feel the same way.

It was just too much. It took me a couple of months to tire of Berman. I was tired of Key after a couple of hours. It was so bad if you asked me who I'd rather listen to between him and Berman I'd choose Berman without a 2nd thought.

"Now on the clock, the Rayduuuuuuuuuuhs!"

I'd rather listen to that (which sound slike he is hocking up a hair ball) than Key. That's sad.

I had no problem with him then again I have no problem with Berman. Covering sports should be fun and entertaining. If I want seriousness I'll watch the evening news and see who is killing who. Normally I take what the pre-game shows have to offer with a grain of salt some things I agree with them some things I don't. During the game I tend to tune out what the guys in the booth are saying because I'm too busy watching the game and thinking of what we will do next.

I totally agree, I though Keyshawn was horrible during the draft.
TV is not the direction he should go, he may get hired, but it will not last long. Besides talking about himself, it did not seem like he did any homework, he was not prepared, and he looked lost several times. He brought nothing to the broadcast.

I wish him well, he was a Cowboy for a short period of time, and laid it all out for Dallas. That is very appreciated, but please stay off my TV screen.

At first I couldnt stand him.

Got to see him first hand as a Cowboy.

I would ride with him.

He still had some game left. Retired too soon.

See Ya!

He just wants to rip TO and Cowboys... when we win the SB... he will be feeling it.

sure enough was..... he will also make a great announcer, better than Terrell Davis and even Micheal Irvin

This is still my favorite Keyshawn Johnson moment. Say what you want about him, but he was a warrior every time he stepped on the field.

Keyshawn Johnson has declined an offer from the Tennessee Titans and has decided to retire.

Johnson will pursue a broadcasting career with ESPN.

"Following Keyshawn's retirement announcement we plan an announcement on his joining ESPN," the network said Wednesday.

"The timing of it was just right," Stanley said of Johnson's decision. "There were a couple of slots open in broadcasting. He was either going to retire this year or next year, but the timing just turned out to be right now."

Johnson, who turns 35 in July, was released by the Carolina Panthers earlier this month after the Panthers drafted Southern California wideout Dwayne Jarrett. He had 70 catches for 815 yards and four touchdowns for Carolina in 2006.

Johnson, the No. 1 pick in the 1996 NFL draft, has started 162 of 167 games in his 11 NFL seasons that spans stints with Carolina, Dallas, Tampa Bay and the New York Jets. He retires with 814 career receptions for 10,571 yards and has 64 touchdowns.

He worked as an analyst on ESPN's televised coverage of the the NFL draft last month.

Johnson had visited the Titans on Friday and met with coaches and watched film. Titans coach Jeff Fisher, who became friends with Johnson while he played at USC and Johnson was a ball boy, said Monday he thought Johnson's numbers and production spoke for themselves.

"He still played at a high-level last year. He takes very good care of himself," Fisher said. "He hasn't had any injuries per se. Anytime you get a chance to bring an experienced veteran in to add to your roster then it's a good thing."

But Johnson decided to leave the field for the broadcast booth -- though he was coy about his plans.

"Out of respect for the announcement I plan to make, I just want to wait until the press conference for everyone to find out," Johnson told The Associated Press. "If there's a lot of rumors and stuff out there, that's fun."

This just in according to ESPN's Sage Steel. He declined an offer to reunite with friend/Titans coach Jeff Fisher only to declare his retirement.

ESPN.com's story:

While he was a problem child at times elsewhere, he busted his butt for the Cowboys... I wish him well...

:hammer:

He was a solid foot soldier for us. He was right, when we threw him the ball, we won.

:hammer: I think he's going to be a much better TV personality than Tiki Barber

And ESPN got rid of Irvin. KeyShawn was terrible on the NFL draft. He comes off arrogant, but has that underlying stupidity. Like when you try and sound inteligent but your grammar is terrible. That's a downgrade in my opinion.

No HOF for you, meshawn... you were a GREAT, and I mean great possession reciever...but not enough TD's and his total stats look better than it really was.

I hope he can keep away the comparisons of himself to great recievers to only people that were as fast as him; which means NOBODY, considering just about every other player at wideout is faster than he is now.

Good luck Keyshawn, I am sure you will do well.
