Kickers are a strange breed of cat. They can be great, and then suddenly get the yips and can't hit the broad side of a barn with a shotgun from 3 feet away.

I really hope the find someone other than Vanderjagt ... I mean Maher.

USFL, XFL, CFL, and a bunch of guys coming out of college. Find someone, bring in as many as you need to see.

Don't settle for a 40 year old name whose best days are behind him, and pay for the past. Kickers are everywhere.
This sounds very good.

Hard to believe the Dallas Cowboys couldn't round up a dozen kickers knowing the winner of the competition would be playing for America's Team.

I think he is good up to about 45 yards, so he is liability for anything longer. losing leg strength.

Nick Folk maybe a better option
NEVER MISSED IN THE PLAYOFFS EVER.

If he’s 87-90% on the year I will gladly take that and the guaranteed 3 in the playoffs

We should have several guys vying for the kicking honors this preseason. It's tough to say at this juncture who might step up for the job. It should prove interesting to see who qualifies, with several newbies likely to enter the competition. I'm looking forward to seeing the results. Stay tuned. There are normally plenty of candidates seemingly coming out of nowhere to compete. I think it's quite likely that this year would be no exception.

there is no way they bring back Maher.
why not a 90% RS kicker had one bad game all kickers have bad game or two.. he should be brought in for a competition, he earned that near 90% the last 2 seasons.

There are plenty of good kickers out there. It’s just that most of us have never heard of them. I’m confident we will find some Kickers by TC. In a league where the average margin of victory is 3 points or less, finding a reliable K is one of the most important positions for a serious playoff contender.

Maher was a Top 10 Kicker for 17 weeks last year before that historically bad XP spell started.

You bring him back but we need to have more contest for him.
He was undone by that sudden rule change which was BS to do during a season in my opinion.

If he can work that out, I give him another shot.

Unless the Cowboys bring in someone else, it's likely to be one of these guys:

Tristan Vizcaino
Jonathan Garibay
Lirim Hajrullahu
Brett Maher
Would Robbie Gould and Nick Folk be included ?

A major problem with Robbie is he has a weak kick off leg, ..and our punter Bryan Anger is not an efficient kick off specialist.

With Marer's booming leg, there was very rarely a kick off return - it normally sail right into the end zone.

Just extra points became an adventure along, then puts your team in a bind if all of a sudden extra points are not made, this was towards the end of the season and into the PO.

Having a mental breakdown and forgetting how to play is not the same as having a bad game.

When this happens to baseball pitchers, they’re done. For the exact same reason.

Are you talking about that new rule that says the older is not allowed to mark the spot with a blade of grass in advance of the snap? If so, I agree. That's a totally bogus rule, and it was even more bogus to change the rule mid-season. They should repeal that dumb rule. If they don't, I hope kickers and holders find a workaround. Maybe the holder can mark the spot with an indentation or something.

So?

Like I said, outside of 45 yards he is not that good, so it limits you. If you are ok with that, then fine, k owing you have to get inside 40 to have a kicking chance
