You don't win or lose with yardage, that happens with points. It's part of the 'bend but don't break' stuff that seems to break at the worst times.

While I agree that points decides the game, there is a very strong correlation between yardage and points. The top offenses in the league tend to also put up the most yardage as a result. It is very rare to find a team that is ranked in the top 10 in yardage, but in the bottom 10 in points scored. Usually they go hand in hand.

Detroit had the ball for 35 minutes to our 25. ANY defense is going to be worn out by that, and going to give up more opportunities. Did they play well? No. But the offense certainly did them no favors by keeping them out there so long, and by not capitalizing on the turnovers they gave them. Notice Detroit scored 24 points in the fourth quarter. You can chalk it up to folding, or you can realize that yeah, eventually a beaten up defense is going to start collapse under those circumstances

Injuries are part of the game..........................The Packers had 3 backups on the oline last night..................didnt see them whinning about it................they win, unlike Opie and his .500 resume.
Packers played the Vikings. My Packers friends are absolutely complaining about the OL injuries they have. My Falcons friend is whining about his WR and RB injuries. My nephew who is a Rams fan is lamenting his QB injury. They all know injuries are part of the game. They also know injuries affect effectiveness. Maybe you think a platoon of Kyle Wilber and Caesar Rayford is the equal of Demarcus Ware, but I don't. I find that thinking ludicrous

Injuries are not an excuse to be on pace to be the worst pass defense since the game of football was invented.

Besides, I dont remember Ryan getting a pass when half the defense was being signed off the street at the end of the season last year. However, he was held responsible for the performance of the unit.

God people making excuses for one of the worse Ds anyone on earth has ever seen, stop defending this old man, he is well past what prime he had and this is what we get.

Ginko Biloba. Supposed to be good for memory. All last year we talked about the injuries on Defense. I could have sworn you were awake and around. Maybe I'm wrong on that though.

Wade Phillups is thinking "what the hell" right about now.

He won 2 division titles and a playoff game in 3.5 seasons and was shown the door. This season will mark Garrett being head coach for 3.5 seasons and we have never even sniffed a winning season.

Yet Garrett gets the "not enough talent" excuse? Exactly how many seasons does Garrett get a pass for? Five, six, seven...........how many seasons does Opie get a pass for not getting the job done, which I was under the impression was the job of an NFL head coach. I am sure coaches all over the NFL that get fired every year could make the excuse they dont have enough talent.

Using your logic, a head coach would never get fired unless he had probowlers lined up at every position.............he could just tell the owner, "we dont have enough talent yet, need another 2 or 3 seasons".

My point is, what are you going to do, keep firing coaches?

I'm not getting this... help me out....

Matt Barkley started for the Eagles, not Payton Manning

#1 in the NFL in takeaways. Yes, forcing turnovers is part of a defense's play too, you know. I'd even say the defense has been more instrumental in our wins than the offense.

Yeah but go ahead and keep looking solely at the yards. It's not like this team is 0-7 and the defense has given up 500 yards and 40 points every game. They've done a lot of good things under tough circumstances. Kiffin > Rob Ryan
I agree on the TOs, but having said the results are 4-4 vs 8-8 ,go figure
