I get what you are saying but wouldn't be an issue for us since Ware flip flops so much during games. I'm not as big as others on Miller but he could play for us.
Is it a foregone conclusion (on this board) that Spencer needs to be replaced? If so, I'd rather give Victor Butler a chance then spend a top 15 pick on an OLB.
There are some on this board that would give Spencer another pass b/c Pasqualoni is supposedly affecting his numbers/production, saying his pass rushing opportunities have been all but eliminated effectively making him a cover/run stopping LB.
Pure BS.
For 8 games in 2010, Spencer did squat under Wade's attacking 3-4 where he blitzed 5+ for the majority of games. And if Spencer is no longer a pass rusher under Pasqualoni (all of 5 games) then his tackle and pass defensed numbers should have sky rocketed. Nothing is further from the truth. Spencer has fewer tackles than Ware, the same number of passes defensed (a whopping ONE) and the same number of Forced Fumbles (one) to go along with all of his THREE sacks.
When Rat and Ware were facing consistent double teams (2009, especially toward the end of season), Spencer still took almost all of last season to show up. Even now Spencer is what he is. He is an average to marginally abve average player who is not great at anything - making tackles, pass coverage, INTs, forcing fumbles or sacking the QB.
And Victor Butler is a lesser player than Anthony Spencer, especially if he has to play the strongside. Butler is weakside rusher, his ability to tackle and shed has improved but he is still a liability against the run.
If the Cowboys have the opportunity to put a playmaker opposite Ware, then they need to make it happen, especially if Jerry is going to continue playing the 3-4.
The OLBs need to be the keys in this scheme. Cowboys should have upgrade the front 7 in the offseason, Peppers was begging to become a Cowboy but Jerry refused to add any new catalytic players, even when they were there for the taking - Julius Peppers, OJ Atogwe, Logan Mankins, etc.
