Kiper big board 12/8/10

I get what you are saying but wouldn't be an issue for us since Ware flip flops so much during games. I'm not as big as others on Miller but he could play for us.

Is it a foregone conclusion (on this board) that Spencer needs to be replaced? If so, I'd rather give Victor Butler a chance then spend a top 15 pick on an OLB.

There are some on this board that would give Spencer another pass b/c Pasqualoni is supposedly affecting his numbers/production, saying his pass rushing opportunities have been all but eliminated effectively making him a cover/run stopping LB.

Pure BS.

For 8 games in 2010, Spencer did squat under Wade's attacking 3-4 where he blitzed 5+ for the majority of games. And if Spencer is no longer a pass rusher under Pasqualoni (all of 5 games) then his tackle and pass defensed numbers should have sky rocketed. Nothing is further from the truth. Spencer has fewer tackles than Ware, the same number of passes defensed (a whopping ONE) and the same number of Forced Fumbles (one) to go along with all of his THREE sacks.

When Rat and Ware were facing consistent double teams (2009, especially toward the end of season), Spencer still took almost all of last season to show up. Even now Spencer is what he is. He is an average to marginally abve average player who is not great at anything - making tackles, pass coverage, INTs, forcing fumbles or sacking the QB.

And Victor Butler is a lesser player than Anthony Spencer, especially if he has to play the strongside. Butler is weakside rusher, his ability to tackle and shed has improved but he is still a liability against the run.

If the Cowboys have the opportunity to put a playmaker opposite Ware, then they need to make it happen, especially if Jerry is going to continue playing the 3-4.

The OLBs need to be the keys in this scheme. Cowboys should have upgrade the front 7 in the offseason, Peppers was begging to become a Cowboy but Jerry refused to add any new catalytic players, even when they were there for the taking - Julius Peppers, OJ Atogwe, Logan Mankins, etc.

I know that it is early, but if Sherrod is on the board, Dallas will almost certainly take him, imo. You will not win the NFC East with this current offensive line. Sherrod will rise; I'd be willing to put money on it.

You can sign a guard to replace Kosier and draft a guard to replace Davis, but Dallas needs an offensive tackle to replace Colombo, too. If a LT is on your board and has the value, you take him, especially with this poor offensive line.

Remember this, Garrett is an offensive coach.

A.J. Green...

Who ever lands this guy is going to be very happy.

He'd look good with a star on his helmet.

No way we take another WR in the 1st.

lol, I can just imagine it. WR in the first, TE in the 2nd and RB in the 3rd.

The national media is catching on to something we first told TFYDraftInsider readers back on September 27th; defensive tackle Jurrell Casey and offensive tackle Tyron Smith, both from USC are heading to the draft. We alerted readers last week that Smith got off to a quick start in deciding on representation. Tonight we can tell you Smith has in fact signed with a representative, will undergo a physical this weekend then begin training for the combine right after Christmas in Arizona.

Wow. That changes a lot of things.

I don't know that we'd consider Smith though simply because he is a bit light. Casey doesn't fit us as at all.

However, you gotta think both these guys size up as early round picks.

If he were there, I'd certainly consider Smith as a potential franchise LT but at worst it puts a little more movement in teams looking for neither LT or DT.
