Mel Kippers lost his hunger about 5 years ago. Now he just cut and pastes the first mock he finds and adds in his favorites which he’s watched YouTube highlights of.

No way can he watch all those players he has in the first round properly and come to that conclusion.

Its s if Kiper forgot we have Jaylon Smith. He literally will change facts or leave out facts to fit his reasoning no matter how asinine it is. This is why i stopped paying attention to this guy years and years ago. These days, I listen to Dane Brugler and Broaddus. Neither is perfect but both guys don't twist facts to fit their reasoning.

The whole league outside of Dallas has forgotten Jaylon Smith. Kiper just assumes far less than Cowboy fans...........which is really how you are supposed to look at a team if you are a GM. One of the reasons Jerry is such a poor GM is that he tends to build his team around best case scenarios. Jaylon has a lot to prove. Then factor in the loss of Hitchens and the fact Sean Lee is 32 and highly unlikely to play a full season. LB is absolutely a need going into this draft.

Dan, all Kiper does is watch tape. That is literally what he's doing all year long. He loves this sh-it. He'll be talking about guys in the 6th round with same familiarity that he has with the first rounders. I've been watching him since the first televised draft on ESPN before personal computers and the internet even existed. Their were 12 rounds in the 80's. No matter who was picked in any round, Kiper could smoothly launch into an analysis of the player while the other guys on set where scratching their heads. He was a walking encyclopedia.

Kipers one weakness is that he is far less familiar with NFL teams outside of the Baltimore than he is with the college players.

5 years ago I’d have agreed with you. He was brilliant, I don’t think he does watch tape as much as you are saying anymore.

I don't know about that but I do know ESPN has cut his role and he hardly gets a word in edge wise these day. ESPN is trying to get rid of all the old guys or ease them into retirement. My favorite was when it was just him, Berman, and Joe theisman. Joe and Mel would always get into it and Berman would play referee. It made the draft fun to watch.

or 1 in the 3rd(Josey Jewell)...1 in the 4th(Fred Warner).

I’m scared of that Barkley tape. Barkley is exceptional but if Barkley can do that I think that a dozen running backs in the league can also do that to him.

I’m worried teams scheme against Jewels poor speed.

Not sure I can agree with you here Dan, while Jewell got beat up against Barkley, not sure there are more than a handful of guys in the league with his ability. You can also chalk it up to a bad game a little?

I think Jewell has had 3 seasons in a row with exceptional tackle numbers and his scouting reports rave about husband instincts.

I'll be keeping an eye on his combine, but he's one of my favorite players in the draft.

I feel like some fans ( not you) just severely undervalue the importance of instincts, especially in off ball positions.
