26. Dallas Cowboys - Michael Mayer TE Notre Dame
Dalton Schultz left in free agency, and the Cowboys never replaced him. Let's get Dak Prescott a talented safety valve here. Mayer is the best all-around tight end in this class; he's not afraid to latch on to defenders and block. Don't discount his receiving upside, either. He had 180 catches for 2,099 yards and 18 scores in three college seasons. He can be an outlet on crossers and hooks, and he'll pick up first downs after the catch. Dallas also has scouted the class' best wide receivers, so keep an eye out if one of the top guys drops.

56. Jacksonville Jaguars - Cam Smith CB South Carolina
57. New York Giants - John Michael Schmitz C Minnesota

58. Dallas Cowboys - Jonathan Mingo WR Mississippi
I thought about a replacement for Ezekiel Elliott here, but Mingo would make an impact on the Dallas depth chart. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound receiver has a great mix of size and speed. He averaged 16.9 yards per reception last season, and he was mostly running short routes. He can break tackles once he gets the ball. He has experience playing both outside and in the slot. This makes two pass-catchers for the Cowboys, and you know Dak Prescott would be thrilled.

59. Buffalo Bills - Josh Downs WR North Carolina
60. Cincinnati Bengals - Zach Charbonnet RB UCLA
61. Chicago Bears (San Fran thru Car) - Jaquelin Roy DT LSU
62. Philadelphia Eagles - Jartavius Martin DB Illinois
63. Kansas City Chiefs - Marvin Mims Jr. WR Oklahoma

Overview
Big combination tight end with the demeanor for run blocking and the size for tough, chain-moving catches underneath. Mayer will come into the league with better blocking technique than most tight ends in this year’s draft. He’s built for in-line duty and was an extension of the Notre Dame offensive line at times. His feet are a little heavy getting into and through his routes, but he has the hand strength and contact balance to win heavily contested catches on the first two levels. Mayer might need to polish his route running to become a high-volume target, but he’s a safe pick and will be a good pro who can become a plus player as a run blocker and pass catcher.

Overview
Big, strong slot receiver possessing the mental and physical toughness to outperform his speed limitations. The career production is nothing special, but it’s clear he’s put time and effort into his craft. He runs crisp, well-paced routes and ramps up his focus when it’s time to go get the football. A lack of separation burst and long speed could make for more contested catches, but he has the body type and willingness for that work. Mingo can get tough yards after the catch and is an above-average blocker. He has the skill level and demeanor to become a starting slot receiver for teams using 11 personnel (three WRs) as their base offense.

I wouldn’t love the picks. Dak doesn’t like to throw 50/50 balls and neither of these guys will create much separation beyond what their frames create for them.

It does strike me as a reasonable prediction of how things might fall overall, however.

I'm sure Mayer will be a fine player but he just doesn't move the needle for me.

Mingo is someone to target later.

Boy, I could make some hay in the 35-40 range of this scenario.

Interesting he has one RB in the first round. Gibbs falling to the second and Charbonnet going late second.

Not bad I wouldn’t complain. This draft improves our offense. The Cowboys would take Downs over Mingo. Just like I feared Flowers and Forbes are moving up.

I’d have no complaints about Mayer.

Wouldn’t want Mingo in the 2nd though. I know the draft shouldn’t be about instant gratification, but taking a WR and TE and not addressing any other part of the team is tough.

Would also be curious to see if the Cowboys would be tempted into trading up if Avila falls past 50 like this. Although in this scenario Miami not having a 4th or 5th rounder makes it very difficult to match up a trade on the value chart without 1 of the teams giving up a future pick

I think this mock shows the Cowboys issue being at pick 26. The OL we might value will be there at 26 but long gone by pick 58.

I think a WR and CB run happens before 26, leaving little value there in round 1.

If Offensive line is what the Cowboys are targeting then a trade down would be expected and would net more picks. I would be on board with this
