It is not that hard to figure out with Barr. Bulk him up, work on his technique and send him after the QB as a pass rusher. Work him in situations if you have to, but he has all the tools.
Something to keep in mind.
I looked over some film on him, beared down on the one game he played against an NFL caliber OT (Bitonio, Nevada) and I came away completely unimpressed! He got nothing on the stat sheet from this game, as far as sacks and hurries go. Bitonio owned him. (We need to draft that guy he did the same thing to Demarcus Lawrence.) I also saw tight ends blocking him easily in this and other games.
Where is the good film on this guy against a respectable OT?
I like Barr as a WDE. He has a lot of natural ability but he will need to be coached up. I mean, if he was a finished product, he would be a top 5 pick. I never thought he was a OLB in the Pros but I think he could be a heck of a pass rushing DE in a 43.
lol? top 5 pick? I am seeing him loggygag through each play, getting blown off the line or just trotting after the play avoiding everything.
If he was a finished product he would be a top five pick.
Watching that film vs Nevada I would not even rate him worthy of a 7th round pick. I am dead serious.

Thats ridiculous. I'm not as high as many on him, but he has elite athletic talent. He is a hard player to evaluate because he doesn't have much experience playing defense. The guy is a 1-2 round talent as is.
Now,
As mentioned earlier if he was the complete package he would be considered right behind clowney. But he isn't, and thats why he could be falling down some boards.
So you disagree. Cool.
yes.
Noted. If he's there at 16, I would have no problem with us taking him.
Bigger bust than Dion Jordan. I hope I don't have to root this guy on if the Cowboys take him. So many solid players to choose from and this top 5 thing is crazy.
Question is ...do they seem him as a year one starter and if so where?
Do they want him playing at a LB spot and rushing the QB or as a DE rushing the passer.
Also do they see him as a starter right out of the gates or a situational pass rusher.
There had been some debate about where we'd play Barr. The options were SAM in the base, then RDE in the nickel. Broaddus is now confirming that the team sees him as a straight DE.
I've been critical of Barr, and the blemishes he shows on film are real, but this encourages me. His poor instincts are maximized at OLB, but minimized at DE. Also, he's in Marinelli's hands even moreso at DE. Those 2 developments ease some concern.

Man I've been searching for an article I read a few weeks about this guy that scared the hell outta me. I can't remember who the writer was but he had mentioned after hours of watching tape he felt Barr definitely was not worthy of a 1st rd pick. Said his numbers were empty, teams never doubled him the way they did Clowney, and that he rarely made game changing plays. Once he's matched up against a talented OT he can be completely removed from the game.
It was harsh and I don't know why I didn't post it here because it know it would've been a good discussion. I wanna say it was rotoworld but I've looked there and can't find it.
I like Marcus Smith as a guy in the Anthony Barr mold. Anyone watch enough of both to compare the two?

I don't think you comprehend the "if he was the total package idea."
