Kubiac for OC in 2014?

I wonder how many other division-leading fan bases with injury riddled defensive lines are having this conversation about firing their HC and replacing him with Gary Kubiak.

I don't know if that comment was directed at me, but as I am the OP I will respond.
I am not talking about firing Jason, rather giving him the best tools to succeed.
Since there is no salary cap on coaching, I say if an excellent assistant coach becomes available we should look into it.
It's not like our offence is playing up to it's potential, right ?

Naa, we would have to totally go in a different direction with the offensive line...

Yeah, no, I wasn't referring to the OP. I should have clarified. Your question was whether or not we could upgrade the OC position with a guy with a long resume and HC experience. I think that's a legitimate question. Just bummed that the thread derailed somewhat into another replace-Garrett thread. Or at least a few posters took it in that direction.

To your point, I'm not a big fan of Kubiak's offense, either. As big a fan as I am of Garrett's, I don't really love the offense we run. I can't see us changing it short of firing him, though. This team needs to improve pass defense, more than anything in the offseason, anyway. That's a tall-enough order.

Thanks, I agree the defence is more in need for upgrade over the offence, but it could use help as well.

We still have what, 8 games left to play this season? Let's talk about changes when it is time in early february

the question is a legit one though, I am just not set on Kubiak, but he is an intriguing name...the team (Garrett and up) obviously aren't happy with the OC position starting in preseason when they let Callahan take over to the changes in the last few weeks. but, much like they need to bite the bullet and hire a real GM, they need to do the same with OC, IMO...they did this with many of the other coaching positions, but just slid garrett out and Callahan in...

As a fan I wouldn't want to see it. But if you like the complaints about our current offense being too vanilla I can only imagine what things would look like with Kubiak at the helm.

The appropriate time for considering staff changes is normally when a team has failed miserably and is out of contention. There seems to be a climate of enjoying disgruntlement with our fans that's inherently unhealthy. I see no reason to dwell upon the negative at a time when things are looking ok, but of course, I could be wrong. Here's a unique thought -- perhaps we could save our appetites for firing staff members when we're out of contention. This season has seen some valid progress on offense. The defense will come next. Be patient.

As long as Jason Garrett's your head coach the offense needs to be his.

Texans always had a good offense but there defense always sucks. When they had both they became super bowl contenders. I would be okay with kubiac as OC, esp if he can add new wrinkles to our offense . plus this will be payback for the Texans hiring Wade as there DC.

Houston's zone OL scheme is what the Cowboys tried to run, but have backed off and gone back to more man; although, they still run zone as well.

Frank Pollack is the Cowboys "assistant" OL coach but functions as their primary OL coach with Callahan now being the play-caller. Pollack was an assistant OL coach in Houston previously.

I know that we don't know how this season will end, however, if things go south and Callahan is the scapegoat and is fired, what would you folks think if Kubiac was bought in as OC ?

I have no idea of any past ties with he and Jason.
I also don't know of what his relationship is with Jerry, if any.

I know he was considerd a great offensive mind at one time.

Hey it's a slow day here in the Zone, LOL !

I wouldn't be surprised to see Callahan fired; however, I would be surprised to see Kubiac hired.

I don't think they would hire him to run Garrett's offense and I don't think Jerry wants Dez and Romo to have to learn a new offensive scheme.

Kubiac will be getting paid for another year and might want to take some time off due to the healthy issues.

What's with all the Garrett-hate?

What's the difference if we bring in ANOTHER new coach?

Jerry is still running the ship. Nothing changes. Why bother? We don't even need coaches.

I think Jerry is tired of not seeing all of his weapons not being used over the years. Jerry wanted to see more of Marty B and didn't see it. Andre Holmes and now Lance Dunbar is the latest. Why did it take so long to get Dunbar on the field? Cole Beasley was inactive for the first few games of the season.

I think Garrett needs to trust these guys a little more. It's like if he doesn't see it right away then he's not gonna play you and just rely on his starters to carry the load.

Kubiak's record as HC his first four years:

6-10
8-8
8-8
9-7

Sure looks a lot similar to Garrett's track record, but Kubiak had a bum as QB.... Can't defend Garrett and dog Kubiak.

This... Kubiac looks like a beaten man right now. Time off would do him good

Let's say they make the playoffs and lose.

What's gonna be your constant theme next year?

Super Bowl or gone?

No.......improvement.............I know this concept is foreign to most Garrett's supporters.

If we make the playoffs and lose in the first round...........how about making the second round the following year?...............I know wanting improvement is controversial when talking about Garrett since we have had none and its going on like year 4.

we should not have lost the detroit game. that is the one game that definitely got away. We win that game and we are definitely on the fast track to the division.

still, as bad as we have looked at times this year, if we win out we are a very respectable 11-5. We win our division, going 6-0. We end up 10-2 in conference play. The only game we were outclassed was the Saints game. I can definitely live with this.

How Bout Dem Cowboys.
