5 games to go, where our draft slotting is still very much up in the air. However, if they fail to win the division, I strongly believe they will earn a top 10 selection.

Several years ago, the last time they had a top 10 pick, I remember Stephen Jones, state: we don't normally pick this high, we are not going to draft based on need, but rather take the best player available.

In my opinion, there are just two blue chip non-QB prospects in this upcoming draft: Sewell, and Kyle Pitts.

Pitts is a matchup nightmare, a so called chess piece. The SEC, which is one of if not the best College Football Conferences, have no idea how to stop him. Too fast for linebackers, too big for safeties. Many have been calling for a modern, athletic TE, Pitts certainly fits the bill.

I get it. I totally get how good of a prospect he is.

But man. I will vomit if the top pick is anything but a QB, defensive player or trade down.

I much rather draft a star, then over drafting to fill a need. I too want to address the defense, but there is lack of high-end talent in this class. If our pick is in that 8-10 range, Pitts has to be in serious consideration.

I think you're right.

They almost have to find an excuse to take defense there though.

I think we will find that Farley belongs just below those two also, and we will likely end up w him.

I'm personally not in favor of taking a corner that high, but it happens.

I won't take defense just because we need it.
The top end talent is on offense.
That means if Pitts OR Chase is on the board I'm seriously considering it.

I don’t have the disdain for the FO drafting moves some have but I’m 50/50 on their ability to make pertinent roster moves post draft. If we draft Pitts we would absolutely have to trade Jarwin/Shultz and probably someone/draft pick for a defender/pick.

Having 3 starting TE’s is an atrocious waste of resources and looks worse when your most stocked position group is WR. You can make a strong argument to trade a WR, adding to the pass catching groups is ridiculously overkill to me. Especially when the defense is so poor.

I would much rather have a pro-bowl caliber CB on this roster than an All-Pro caliber TE.

I believe if they had to get out of Jarwin's contract they could do so with a small cap hit. You are assuming that both of the top two corners are still available and they will become pro-bowl players.

You gotta take what the draft gives you.

If you have Travis Kelce on the board why would you take Chidobe Awuzie just because you need defense..

No. I trade down. Like my post said.

I don’t want a tight end with a top 5 pick.

There will be quality defensive players available in the early part of the first round. it’s the scouts and front offices job to identify which defensive player will be the best and man them.

Plus I would much rather have Parsons than Pitts. And for anybody who wants to make the position value argument about Lb. the same can easily be made about TE.

if he is the highest rated player on the board...turn in the card.
sewell.
chase.
pitts.
parsons.
farley.
surtain.
rosseau.
one of them will be the highest rated player on the board when we pick...and his name should be on our card.
im not good or smart enough to tell you who.
but our pick should be the true BPA.

So if you thought you had an All Pro Quality TE you would trade down for numbers on defense?

I get wanting defense trust me but I can’t pass on Quality over quantity unless it’s close.

For me, other than a QB (because of where we are the cost) I think Sewell is the best thing for our team.

Pitts is a stud and there is no denying it.

There are two schools of thoughts here. 1) Draft a player even if it is not a position of need, if they can someday where a gold jacket in Canton. 2) if you need brakes and headlights, you don't order ballbearings. Even if they are the best ballbearings in the history of car parts.

My take is, if you can say with 75% certainty the player has the talent to go to Canton one day, he is your pick. I love me some Pitts, but I am not 75% certain he has that talent. Hell, how many TEs are in Canton and how many of those were taken with 1st rd picks in the top 10?

Take Sewell, Parsons, a QB or trade down.

If I have an all pro quality TE available. I probably take the all pro quality LB who I think will be available in Parsons.

I mean I get your argument catch. I really do. I just man. Can we spend a top 5 pick on a TE the way the team is constructed? Another season of scoring 30+ points but losing games? Idk I’ll rip my hair out man if that happens. Lol
