I haven't dove into the draft yet but he most likely will be.

I do not want a TE at all. I like ours.. He's a beast though..

I'd hate to pass on something great for just a solid defender.

There is no earthly way we are taking a TE with a top 5 pick.
Honestly, I remember hearing the same thing last year. "There's no way Dallas takes a WR with #17. It'll be Chaisson or Henderson or Diggs or *insert any other defensive player here*. But no way do they take a WR."

Anything could happen my man.

We agree, its just the defense is begging for help. It' goes back to last year the defense needs help and we draft a stud WR and everybody got it. Here we are again Pitts is a complete offensive stud?
It stinks how this team uses free agency, if they would legitimately fill needs with quality players, not low end bargains, they really can go into the draft process taking the best players available. I think they will be almost forced to take the lesser player due to the bigger need.

We will have to see what’s still available. Any draft discussion always has the caveat of “who is still available when you pick”

I’m just throwing it out there. I don’t take him over Parsons and I don’t take him over a defensive player who may be similarly rated.

But as always, it depends how the draft board falls. I would still prefer trade down and adding picks, over using a top 10 on a TE. If a team is offering me a good trade package.

This is a draft in which after the QB's are taken, nobody is going to trade up as there will be many similar graded players. Pitts is a legitimate top 10 player. Unless a similar graded defensive player is available, the smart move to to take the best player available. Stephen Jones said last time they had a top 10 pick, it would not be used for need, but best player as they don't usually pick that high.

Yeah. And we ended up with a running back who is now just about shot.

Stephen Jones saying anything makes me want to do the opposite to be honest.

I also think you overestimate where the cowboys will be picking.

Even though he is having a bad season, Zeke was a good pick at the time. That were 13-3, earned the #1 seed, basically on Zeke's shoulders.

Well 1) no one thought one of the top 3 WRs would fall that far.

2) there was an open spot for the 3rd WR which is a starter once Cobb left.

There is no vacant spot at TE and the team wasn’t coming off having the worst defense in league history last year.

I’m a big fan of the player, but the more I watch him the more I wonder about what kind of athlete he is.

if he isn’t going to block I need him to be a SPARQ monster to take him in the top 10 and I don’t think he will be.
He’s a matchup nightmare dude. If you have a talent like that at TE then you don’t need a blocking TE because the D won’t be able to stack the box and overplay the run.

And as long as we keep ignoring the D, we can't stop anyone so the weapons on O won't matter.

A RB in the top 5 is never a good pick. It's the easiest position to draft in football and with our OL at the time any mediocre back is going over 1K yards.

We could've had one of the best DBs in football in Ramsey...then the best RB in football in Henry but we blew it.

The selection of Zeke was a good pick at the time, team went 13-3 and earned a #1 seed mainly due to him and the OL. Giving him a 2nd contract could be debated. Many forget the Cowboys were looking at Ramsey as a safety, not as a corner. Who knows what would of happened, but the defense wasn't 1 player away.

Because of him? We had an elite OL at the time and a competent defense. Any decent RB could've gone for 1K+ yards with decent volume and it wouldn't have changed us winning the division. You don't think Henry could've done what Zeke did?

It was a terrible pick...and then we extended him which was even dumber.

I'd take him 7-12.

If we play FA smart, then we can fill holes defensively. But, we've not done the best job of playing FA.

5 games to go, where our draft slotting is still very much up in the air. However, if they fail to win the division, I strongly believe they will earn a top 10 selection.

Several years ago, the last time they had a top 10 pick, I remember Stephen Jones, state: we don't normally pick this high, we are not going to draft based on need, but rather take the best player available.

In my opinion, there are just two blue chip non-QB prospects in this upcoming draft: Sewell, and Kyle Pitts.

Pitts is a matchup nightmare, a so called chess piece. The SEC, which is one of if not the best College Football Conferences, have no idea how to stop him. Too fast for linebackers, too big for safeties. Many have been calling for a modern, athletic TE, Pitts certainly fits the bill.
Pitts is someone I am definitely not ruling. If we are picking outside the top 5, I think it will either be Surtain, Fairly, Parsons or Pitts. There isn't a DL in the draft worth that pics

I love Pitts...and think he's a monster but I'd be hard pressed to take him since we just extended Jarwin. Financials don't make since.

If we're going offense give me Chase and move Gallup.

It's my understanding, they can get out of the Jarwin contract pretty easily. I think Pitts is more of a match up problem on the next level then any WR we could take.

Still don't want any offensive skill player in round 1(and where we should be picking).

Going into next year we'll have guys like:
Cooper, Gallup, Lamb, Wilson and Brown at WR
Schultz and Jarwin at TE
Zeke and Pollard at RB.

We aren't losing games due to lack of firepower.
It goes back to 2013 since we've lacked to build a successful defense by either ignoring it or picking bums.
Not a good 1-2 combo. But the old staff is gone, and hopefully the scouts and coaches are more eye to eye moving forward.

I think there should be a corner, LB, or DL in the 7-12 spot that may not be BPA, but is still a damn good prospect that can fill a much bigger need.

Anything remotely close to the offensive line I would just draft and offensive linemen. We don't really need more WRs. So a TE that early is not very reasonable IMO.
