Kyle Wilber - LB - Cowboys
The Cowboys are expected to give 2012 fourth-round pick Kyle Wilber a chance to be their starting strong-side linebacker.
Dallas has a need at SAM in the new 4-3, and Wilber is considered the favorite over Alex Albright. The Cowboys won't add to this position in free agency, but could in the draft. Wilber was a stand-up defensive end at Wake Forest. He would probably be a two-down player, replaced by a defensive back in the nickel.

I'm not sure he'd be the favorite over A Albright . . . .

Hopefully it will be very competitive between the two.

I thought I had read a few weeks ago that Wilbur would be possibly playing back-up DE. Maybe they dive into FA for depth there?

If he is better than Albright than he is a dang good player because Albright is pretty darn good.

I think he'll be fine at this role.

Excited to see him given a shot. I liked him alot in the draft last year.

I never understand when people say this.

The guy has literally done nothing.

Not in my book. At this point.

But hopefully that Wilber pick is not a wasted one.

who starts not as important as who wins the battle for the position. Both are Cowboy player I wish both men the best of luck as they fight for the position.

I think we'll look closely at a couple of those Bears FA LBs and bring in someone with experience at the position to push the guys already on the roster. If we don't, I like Albright better than Wilber from what little I've seen of the guy. Though I hope he makes great strides in camp this year.

I like the competition. Albright and Wilbur are actually very similar athletically. I just hope they find a position for Wilbur and let him develop there, don't go flip flopping the guy and ruin his development.

Albright could make an impact in the Kiffin DE.

i think albright is a solid player. he is no super star but when given a shot to start against the steelers he had 6 tackles. pretty solid game. as he played more late in the year he played some very solid games

He's got the potential to be our own Chase Blackburn. That guy who keeps over delivering until he gets a regular spot on your defense, and then you spend the next three seasons trying to upgrade his position with players with higher pedigrees, and you just can't ever seem to do it.

Did you watch the Pittsburgh game? Albright was outstanding that day.

Hard to find 6-6 linebackers that can cover.

How did, Bobby Carpenter look in that one Seattle game?

Want? I wouldn't go that far. It makes sense to bring in some vets who know the defense. And we really don't have a lot of slots where we'd likely be able to do that. DL, SLB, S. That's about it.

Are you joking? Other than their skin color, I don't see any comparisons between Albright and Carpenter.

What a terrible comparison. Albright is an undrafted free agent and is already better than Carpenter who is a first round bust. Albright has shown some much more talent and flash than Carpenter in a year than Carpenter did in the four years he was here.
