Hes shown flashes of being "pretty darn good".
2 years and all he has to his name are a handful of "flashes"...not exactly a ringing endorsement.

With the injuries to Lee and Carter, and even Connor for a little while, he couldn't secure a starting role. Either the coaching staff was dumb not to play him, or he sucks.

Miles Austin also only had flash when he first signed here and became well-known for his kick off return against Seattle just like Albright did against the Steelers. Before his injuries, Austin was known as one of the best receivers in the league. Not saying Albright will reach that kind of level, but give the kid a chance to showcase what he can do in a starting role before labeling him as a scrub.

This is what I have been telling people in the draft forum who have us taking a LB in the first 4 rounds.. They took one last year in round 4 not to mention Albright looked good last year and Sims was solid as well. With positions like OT, OG, S, and DT all deep in this draft and all huge needs of ours I have a hard time thinking we draft a safety early on. Also need a backup RB pretty badly

What you're leaving out is that he was a converted DE that was moved to OLB, then TE before ILB. so he didn't have the draft status or free agency priority. This also speaks to his athleticism and his combine numbers, other than the 40, rival Demarcus Ware's numbers. He's a very good athlete that can settle in at LB.

I've seen the numbers and hear all this "he's a great athlete stuff"...I don't see it. He doesn't look fluid at all out on the field.

Miles was always physically gifted, he had to refine his skills. I don't think Albright is that way, so its a bit different.

I think Albright has shown himself to be a solid player as for Wilber I would like to see him develop and become a very good player for the Cowboys. I look forward to seeing them challenging each other and in the end the Cowboys win should both show themselves as legit NFL quality players and there is nothing wrong with that. :D

Let 'em duke it out in Camp. Hell like you said, if they both prove to be good players, then great. Dallas will have good depth at LB at that point, if that proves to be the situation.

What a terrible comparison. Albright is an undrafted free agent and is already better than Carpenter who is a first round bust. Albright has shown some much more talent and flash than Carpenter in a year than Carpenter did in the four years he was here.

and some how a lot of coaches in the NFL are idiots and you know better, becayse Carpenter stuck around in the NFL for a while and yeah, helped beat the cowboys by returning an interception for a TD>

lets just agree that neither is going to HOF

sorry Austin was never known as one of the best recievers in the league. he was and is a very good WR. one of the best. that's a stretch

and not every FA no name player will make it big time because they showed flash.

Gotta admit, I do hope Albright wins the job (I liked how he played last year, and a RKG) but if Wilber beats him out, then that says a good deal about his (Wilber's) abilities.

I can't say I'm pulling for 1 over the other. I agree Albright did some good things if somehow Wilber steps up and wins the job then that is a pretty good situation to be in knowing you have 2 quality player making the LB position a much better unit overall.

Agreed. Whoever can get the job done is ok by me. I don't care if it is one of those two, a draft pick or a UDRFA or FA.

Someone needs to step up and do the job.

I'd say Austin was considered a top 10 receiver after the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Maybe saying one of the best was a bit too much, but he was definitely a top 10 receiver during those two years.

And I'm not saying Albright will be a star, I'm simply saying give him a chance before writing him as a pratice squad member or a back-up. The guy has talent, evident by last year's performance during the latter part of the season, and I'd like to think he can capitalize on the momentum he built up and become a starter this upcoming season.

Yep that is all that matters. I will say I feel good about going into camp with Lee, Carter,Albright and Wilber. I may have missed it but what is the word on Ernie Sims returning

Another player we're all forgetting is Orie Lemon. He looked decent in a small sample size last season.

I agree. I know he is an exclusive rights FA and hopefully he will be in camp. Even if he can be a solid backup player these past couple of season should remind everyone how important backup roles are.
