You guys are cracking me up.

Name me one time in NFL history or even sports history any of the following has happened to a team that has won 70 percent of their regular season games each of the past three years.

1. ‘Blow it up’ and rebuild. The silliest suggestion of all. Jerry would have to be a complete dumb a** to do that. You want to go 3-14 next year and have four years of losing seasons and have a 50 percent chance of finding a good starting qb?

2. Release or trade the All Pro QB who led the league in TD passes. Yeah he sucked against GB and hasn’t delivered in the playoffs, but it ain’t happening. Too big of a risk that you will end up without a serviceable QB.

3. Fire the coach. This one isn’t as silly because of the way the team played vs expectations and how embarrassing it was. But it ain’t happening either.

The only move a top GM would consider would be #3. The other two are reckless and would be poor decisions given all the factors.

We've seen plenty of teams win SBs, blow it up, bottom out, rebuild, and get right back into contention within a few season.

We get lapped several times by these teams. Remember when Jerry thought it was a mistake for the Rams to go all in for the recent SB? It was clearly worth it.

Why don't we try to do what works like hiring qualified GMs, or using top 1st round picks on QBs?

Nah, that would be "la la land".

I just don't get it though, we'd do it and it wouldn't work, someone else does it they win a ring

The best chance you can hope for with this team and salary cap hell while having to sign key players is get a new HC that changes the philosophy and mental attitude.
You sign a new DC

You let Dak play next season and see if he can get it done in the Postseason because of that contract and cut him afterwards so you dont need to eat all the dead money

If he fails again you have to start thinking about rebuilding with another QB and that means sucking for atleast a year.

Winning 70% of the regular season games isn't the goal. It wouldn't have mattered if they went 17-0 the last 3 years. The playoff record speaks for itself.

I agree. The team is built to win now. That includes the QB. There really isn't another choice. I just don't know why this team has no fight when they get punched. Can a new coach fix that?

Also, they don't have to extend him this offseason.

Not a goal but it says you are close enough and you don’t want to start over

How many of those All Pro QBs spit the bit in every big game they played this year (other than Philly) and is due a massive extension after his failures?

The issue here with Dak is it's not just about sticking with him. It's about making the decision to stick with him but then also have to extend him and hand him a crap ton of money that ties him to the franchise for at least another 3-4 years.

So your #2 isn't really applicable here.

Btw I am up for going all in
Need to get 2 new linebackers, a DL, a new starting RB, 1 new OL.
Change the D scheme to be more physical.
You have to be able to run the ball at all costs.

Counterpoint: this team isn’t built to win now. We’ve been saying they’re built to “win now” for like 3 years now. Yet it hasn’t happened.

I thought “now” was less than 3 years

Just so simple. Just get 5 new really good players, change the entire scheme on defense and hope that Dak and MM don't spit the bit again in big games.

Your parameters are intentionally too specific to be compared to anyone other scenario. If Dallas went 11-6, failed to hit 70% wins , but won the tie breaker for the division and lost to Green Bay the same way, does that really matter in keeping McCarthy around? there are plenty of examples of similar scenarios that happened and worked out for the betterment of those teams

The Houston Texans went from worst to a contender in 12 months...how did this happen? Your first 3 points, is how. It isn't rocket science yet way too many fans are in love with the status quo

Not simple
But the chances of near-term success is greater to take this path
How many all pros are on this team?
