What does All Pro have to do with anything? We got roasted yesterday by a team that didn't have nearly the talent we did or as many all pros.

People thinking we can just tweak what we have and it will give us a great shot must have become Cowboys fans yesterday. Because we've been playing the tweak game for 5-7 years now. It's not working.

Dak is now 2-5 in the playoffs. He came up small in big games this year. What makes you think that if you bring him back and McCarthy back, commit a ton more dollars to Dak and handcuff the franchise for 3-4 more years, that will change the trajectory of this franchise? He's not some young, up and coming QB. He's a seasoned vet with multiple years under his belt. He is what he is. Thinking he's going to suddenly become a big game/playoff juggernaut is foolish.

But unfortunately, our owner is foolish so that's what we are going to get.

What's happening here is you are simply struggling with the reality staring you in the face. You are struggling to accept that what we have built has continually failed. Basically, you are doing the same thing Jerry is doing today. Trying to rationalize that what we have is really good and just a tweak here or there puts us over the top.

Oh, and of course they kind of brought in a brilliant HC and it is safe to say they hit the jackpot in their draft last year...case in point the Panthers who have failed miserably yeaer after year and have nothing in the draft to show for it this year. 1. ‘Blow it up’ and rebuild. The silliest suggestion of all. Jerry would have to be a complete dumb a** to do that. You want to go 3-14 next year and have four years of losing seasons and have a 50 percent chance of finding a good starting qb?

2. Release or trade the All Pro QB who led the league in TD passes. Yeah he sucked against GB and hasn’t delivered in the playoffs, but it ain’t happening. Too big of a risk that you will end up without a serviceable QB.

3. Fire the coach. This one isn’t as silly because of the way the team played vs expectations and how embarrassing it was. But it ain’t happening either.

The only move a top GM would consider would be #3. The other two are reckless and would be poor decisions given all the factors.

lol. You have summed up the ethos of this ownership after Jimmy was let go. Too scared to make a change, too scared to try and win. The definition of insanity. Nothing will change until this culture of entitlement gets flushed.
Troy hated it when Switzer took over in 94. The luck and unlucky aspect is we won another ring and that has clouded the buffoons judgment saying he won his way, 28 years later here we are.

Frankly I don't care if we have a few losing seasons as long as it looks like we're going in the right direction. We are completely stuck in the middle. We aren't winning anything with McCarthy, Quinn and Dak. Of course the real reason we won't win is because of our GM and the dysfunctional organization that he sets but we know that won't change. So try something different and see if we get lucky that way.

I agree with you, the problem is the Cowboys don't have a Top GM, they have an owner that thinks he knows football better than any coach and won't hire a GM, let alone a Top GM.

The only solution for this mess is a new GM, ditching Dak, and salvaging draft picks for the higher paid players. Trading Micah the Magician might even be the prudent thing to do, given yet another awesome disappearing act from him yesterday.

Marty Schottenheimer won 73% from 2004-2006 in San Diego. 2 playoff appearances. Went 14-2 the last season and was fired. It happens.
