Lack of PT for starters

We are 1-4 in our last 5 season openers. The loss last year cost us a shot at the one seed. Every game is critical and nobody else is running another Camp Cupcake, which worked out so well for us the last time we did it.

My whole life of watching football and every team got starters their reps in preseason except the recent Dallas Cowboys. Starters getting work in preseason is still the norm across the league.

Perhaps Mike does not know what he is doing here or it wasn't his call, but ordered by Jones.

I won't accept 3-1 when the reason for the loss was our own stupidity in not getting ready and it helps cost us a one seed and home field advantage.

Practice OTA’s lifting weights yada yada yada . When it’s a live game even pre season a series or 2 or 3 won’t spoil the QB . For one I’ve seen enough of 15 to know in a crunch he will sail one right into the oppositions. Secondary . He’s not the break the glass in an emergency answer .

I know it seems like an awful lot of injuries across the league this preseason with guys getting carted off the field straight to the hosp and the Cowboys losing two very promising young players for the season

Having said that I see guys like Trevor Lawrence Geno Smith Calvin Ridley Ettiene among others playing pre season vs Dallas . I just hope Dakota doesn’t come out all amped up in New Jersey in a few weeks starts flinging around Incompletes or INT’s or someone pulls a hammy from lack of playing time .

The Raiders game I suspect guys on the bubble will get all the PT and starters will get more vacation time .
Ridley went down today with a hammy I believe!

Oh go tell someone interested in your rants . Take a sleep aid . You sound ridiculous . It was a simple post . Dak sits entire pre season let’s see how he does opening night .
This is just what the homers do. They try to misdirect and project on to others so hopefully no one will notice that Dak still has everything to prove. He’s their QB and that’s all that matters, care more about an unproven 4th rounder that never won anything besides participating in regular seasons. We will see week one if he’s fixed his league leading interceptions with five less games

Pretty risky going into the regular season with a new offense and a new WR and not giving your starting offense any snaps during the preseason. That formula led to a dreadful opening day performance last season by our offense.

How about we see how the whole 17 game season goes and the postseason how about that how about game one just about every team and all its players are gonna need to get into that rhythm and game shape because it's gonna be the first full game for any of those players most of the starters sit preseason how about you get that?

Also how about this how about you get on board with the fact that I think a coaching staff with the experience hours have can make a decision that they think is best for their team and I'm gonna trust their decision over yours and the fact that there are damn team has got over 1000 snaps this off season and you have Prescott and a bunch of guys in his field in his backyard had worked out during the offseason these are things you don't take into account they've got far more work on the practice field then they would in preseason they stay in shape year round this is today's athlete not your grandfather's athlete they have nutritionists dietitians private chefs trainers they hit the gym daily I mean I don't understand why you think that that's not enough to get ready for game one when somehow high school and college don't have preseason and they seem ready I mean they think it's enough..

But go ahead coach Ron Washington let us know how you know more than our coaching staff you don't think Dan Quinn Mike McCarthy and this entire staff has ever ran a team before and don't know their players I mean you have to play a 60 minute game with a break at halftime with normal live action in order to be in game shape and that only happens game one all teams are gonna be slightly rusty and slightly not in a 60 minute full live game shake every single team there is no proof whatsoever that playing in preseason gets you a championship ring or we play every single damn preseason game with our starters got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How about that rant I don't need no sleep aid I need to stop here and ridiculous comments from ridiculous know it all fake Internet coaches fake Internet GM's people who think they know more than the actual professionals who spend 90 hours a week doing this their entire life!!!@@!!!!:huh::thumbdown:

How about that rant now take that it's sticking in your pocket and keep it for safe keeping it doesn't matter how they come out in game one it matters how they finish game 17 and in the playoffs that's why they're sitting in preseason we saw Prescott play game one in 2021 and dropped 500 yards on Tampa Bay we lost the game but had nothing to do with rust they were the eventual Super Bowl champion last year we lost to the same Tampa Bay team cause Kellen Moore who was let go for this use the same game plan from 2021 even though we had a completely new offense full of new players and should have ran the ball more and didn't of course just like the last game had nothing to do with rust it was a dumb game plan it was a completely new set of players..

To take that and stick it in your pocket... I ranted on purpose because you want to tell me what I shouldn't shouldn't do that's what we'll see I'll see you and talk about this in February because game one does not have any big bearing on the season given 16 teams will win and 16 teams will lose...

Do you remember we started three and five and 2018 ended up 10 and six went to the second round of the playoffs it is not how you start it is how you finish that is why they're keeping our veterans from getting hurt before a real game is played...!!!! NEXT

That's not why we opened that game badly that was Kellen Moore and his sorry play calling in his sorry game plan that he used in game one in 2021 against the same team we all saw it we broke it down he went past happy even though we started out the game running very well Ezekiel Elliott was running at 5.3 yards per carry and we were in that game but he decided to go air corio and that is why he lost his job that was a terrible game plan had nothing to do with Ross and everything to do with a **** **** planning and trying to be past happy as usual didn't see exact way he ended the year against the 49ers and why one Kellen Moore is no longer here because game one year before we put up 500 yards in the air and we lost that game to the eventual Super Bowl champions there was no rust in that game so this is all a bunch of hyperbole by fans it is not necessary to play your veterans in a 17 game season in the preseason it is not there is no proof that it helps you win a Super Bowl.. That was not rust that was terrible game planning again it is why Kellen Moore is not here any longer....

So we did the same thing last year and Dak got hurt...the very first game.

Next? Okay!

We sat Dak last year pre season and he got hurt the very first game. It did not protect him very well.

You wanna sit here and have this debate that him hitting his hand on a follow through on the last play of the game for the offense somehow is because of preseason conditioning?????!!!! you're telling me that you haven't seen Prescott or any other quarterback hit their thumb and hand on a helmet at any point in the season?? You're going to sit here with a straight face and have an argument with me in a debate even though you know that has zero to do with preseason he hit his hand on the follow through it happens all the time to quarterbacks it's happened to Prescott more than one time as well he's hit that hand and had it swell up other times throughout the season again it has zero to do with preseason I'm not gonna say it more oh you think so need to go hide in a hole in a fetal position and sweat it out like pookie you have a serious drug problem ,you have a serious mental issue!!

So you're gonna tell me with a straight face when there's a lack of protection in game 15 in preseason and the quarterback gets his hand hit on a helmet or gets tackled to the ground you know a breakdown and protection it was because of preseason is that what you're telling me because I've been watching football for a long time and those same breakdowns happen in all games I mean it was game five where he had to take off and he broke his ankle on a free tackle you tell me that was because of preseason reps the lack thereof is that what you're telling me even though we see players get hurt all the time all throughout the season some non contact some contact and you're sitting here telling me with a straight face you think 20 snaps in the preseason would have prevented it are you kidding me WR ridiculous maybe the heat's getting to you maybe you just like to argue and debate but I'm telling you it's some of the dumbest arguments I've ever heard in here is that Lack of preseason has caused these injuries..

Cowboys zone posters love sticking to their agendas. The Cowboys lost their left tackle a week before the game. The Cowboys basically had a new offensive line that barely practiced together. Steele replaced Collins, McGovern replaced Williams, and Tyler was supposed to be the backup guard going into game one not the starting left tackle. Our receivers besides CeeDee was Noah Brown and Dennis Houston. By the second quarter McGovern was replaced by Fornek. That is the reason we lost game 1.

Like I said Kellen Moore had the running game going we were in a close game that we could have won and he decides to only give Ezekiel Elliott two runs in the second-half after he started out the game 5.3 yards per carry and instead of doing what he did with Cooper rush and run the ball first and play conservative football with this newly assembled offensive line and team he decided to go past happy with all these new targets a lack of amari Cooper and Cedric Wilson.. Yes that's what I'm saying and if you agree that's fine if you don't I don't care there's no agenda Kellen Moore used the same game plan from week one in 2021 against Tampa Bay and it blew up in his face because they read every play.. Had zero to do with lack preseason snaps that's for damn sure

Barring any crazy practice injuries before the Giant game, this offense should hit the ground running.

Even if they don't hit the ground running it need a quarter to get in a rhythm I mean we know the giants very well it's not like we needed a lot of preparation for them my point is most teams I don't care if they played their starters 50 snaps in the preseason they are not gonna be in 60 minute live game shape there is no way to do that until you play a full live NFL game from start to finish those offensive lineman 60 snaps I don't care if they got 20 in preseason that's not preparing them for game one I mean did the Eagles play any of their starting offense this preseason cause I'm pretty sure they didn't is anybody gonna say Oh well they didn't need it because they went to the Super bowl last year it is that gonna be the dumb argument here I mean that's what this place is doing they're making ignorant arguments because we've already seen there is no proof that playing 20 snaps in preseason or even a little more is gonna get you to a Super Bowl.. I'm a long term guy this is a 17 game season now and this is a battle of attrition and I don't care if they start slow and a little rusty in game one by the second-half they'll be rolling and if we lose a player I'd rather be in game one so we can't say damn I wish we didn't play those guys in preseason that's just dumb luck if you get injured in the first game like Prescott's thumb how can people saying his thumb wouldn't have gotten broken if he'd have played in the preseason????

What good would reps in a preseason game do the starters?

Is it probable that the O and D get better reps going against each other than in some preseason game that most of these coaches and players don't want to play?

Watch the preseason games, if you must, and tell me that looks like real NFL football.

The games will be mostly sloppy by every team to start the season as it has for the last few years.

The Eagles didn’t even play Davis and Carter except for a few series all preseason. They will be fine as well. I will save it for predictions for week one but watch out for the Patriots in week 1. Brady’s jersey ceremony. Patriots have a power running game and a good defense. Plus the GOAT head coach. Look out!!!!

Nope not according to the zone and social media pundits they think you have to have preseason so the Eagles must be wrong as well a Super Bowl team from last year almost played none of their top 27 guys..

I don’t think the Rams, Chargers, Vikings, and Bengals played their guys either. Since I have the Ticket I will watch their games and see what is up.

No....that isn't my point at all.

The point is that doing so doesn't always protect a player for the coming season. Fact is it's a crap shoot. Lotta starters around the league are playing pre season games just fine. Others get protected and get hurt right away.

Not gonna sit here and argue with you about it.

I understand that many fans see value in getting some ps game work for starters. But McCarthy is one of a growing number of NFL HCs who have changed their philosophy on ps games and choose not to expose their best players to an injury in a meaningless game.

It has become a philosophy adopted by teams that believe their players (just like college players) don’t necessarily need “game reps” before the season starts. When the NFL went to 17 games, more coaches like Mac are thinking - “It’s a long season. Why risk an injury?”

If we are headed to an 18 game season as the owners want, expect to see more and more teams choose to make ps games nothing more than roster evaluations. It’s certainly a debatable topic but I wish our fans understood that this is a deliberate decision made by this organization that is not going to change. At least this year.
