La'el Collins reminds me of Larry Allen

Bear with me as I explain. First, I'm tired of the non-football stuff. I needed to reconnect with actual Cowboys football this morning. So, I'm looking at clips before work this morning. I am SO excited about Collins at right tackle. I keep catching glimpses of Collins out there... the potential. The attitude and strength reminds me of a very young and unproven Larry Allen.

I know he isn't on that level. I know it isn't the same position. I don't even care if you blast me. Let's just talk about football.

I think physically (power and leverage wise) he is somewhat similar, (though Allen is still far superior (4.6 40 at 325lbs!), there are very few people who could push Reggie White around) but Allen's football intelligence and just intelligence in general is miles ahead of Collins. In a class of only rare and special athletes, Larry would still be considered rare and special even in that group due to his physical AND mental abilities.

I think Collins will be fine. there will be some growing pains. but Dak has the legs to get out of trouble if needed. not that he won't get sacked, but he can avoid some of them, as well as some pressure. But in the long run, he will be fine. Can't be any worse than Free. Though I feel Free at times was unjustly blamed for some things.

I like Collins and think he will do really well. He just needs to settle down a bit. IMO he is still trying to prove he belongs and is more of a bull in the a china shop. Dude will be a beast.

Maybe in attitude and height, but he's not near as powerful as Allen and not as quick. Allen was a phenom. Right now, I'm just hoping Collins will be as good as Free was at his best. Maybe that's too low of a bar, but I could live with that.

Really? I thought he looked really good at LG before he got injured. RT is completely different though so I'm not sure what to think there. But I have a hard time saying he's OVERRATED with how good he looked at LG

Attitude, body type/style-wise he reminds me of Erik Williams. Hopefully he's even half as good and we'll be set!

I agree with this. It's probably just runaway hope on my part, but I think he's looked MUCH more at home out at right tackle.

Exactly. When the game slows down for him and everything becomes natural, look out for Larry Allen Jr.

I'm pretty sure I didn't insult one of my favorite players of all time. In fact, hoping that any one could be compared to him is a compliment, not an insult.

I guess I just can't say he's OVERRATED when I just don't see him being highly rated anyways. Now I live in Wisconsin and don't have the local sports talk like you guys do
